Favorite Opening System?

I like non-assisted flippers and, even more, disengaging, and flicking, an Axis lock.

I like the flipper as a deployment method. I don't like most flipper knives.

My Kizer Gemini and my Kershaw Leeks are pretty much the only exceptions. Everything else in that category seems to be a chunky titanium folder with a blade too thick to be useful.

So that leaves me with a bunch of Spyderco folders. (Yeah, that was a deliberate pun, I make no apologies.)
Where's the pun? I don't get it.

Wave!Spyderco Wave. I very much dislike the Emerson brand knives wave. Owned a bunch and they never open up as well for me as the spydercos. I want a Wave wharncliffe

I like opening a balisong. I suck at it, but it's my favorite just because I find it fun.

Least favorite is the one lemonslush just posted. I find the wave gimmicky and the spyderhole unattractive. Mixture of both? Not for me.

20 years ago I was leery of thumb hole. For the last 18 it's been my favorite.

Not sure what this is based off of, thread is favorite opening systems lol. Unless you wrist flick it open with the button lock disengaged....

That's exactly what how it works, you hold the button and flick it out. I have one of those, got it at Home Depot some time ago. It's got a liner lock.

Couldn't agree more  Though they do supposedly work very well, which I don't doubt

1. Spyderco hole
2. Thumb stud/disk
3. Manual/Nail nick
4. Emerson Wave (just not always practical, but #1 in some circumstances)

Dislike flippers, which sucks because that's about all you see anymore. Some great looking knives that I just won't buy b/c it's a flipper (or tip down only). A tip down flipper would probably be the worst knife ever.

Really no need for autos either.

I like a wave except on an Emerson--he makes them too small and unreliable, except on the kerambits. Second place goes to the Spyderhole, then the flipper, then the thumbstud.

Flippers with a good strong detent are nice.

I also really like the slow "thunk" of opening a Sebenza via thumbstud. There's just something about it...
