Favorite production knife company

Actually this is a better way to put it
Folder Fixed Blade
1. Spyderco Busse
2. Benchmade Fehrman
3. Kershaw

Right this minute it's Benchmade , but others I hold in high esteem is

- Strider
- Kershaw
- Case
- Queen
- GEC

Probably Cold Steel. They have consistently interesting, durable designs for great prices. The folders they make for under $100 (and even $50) are fantastic and satisfy both hard use and "cool" factor. I also like that they still make daggers and push-daggers; something very few companies do. I like the odd weapons they make. Their catalog is fun to read and charmingly overwrought.

Cold Steel is my favourite company as well. They make a huge amount of cool and very engaging items no other company seems to want to touch. I also think you're absolutely right about their catalog; it is indeed "charmingly overwrought". In fact their whole marketing thrust seems to be aimed at ,as others have said, the "inner child in all of us".

A toss up between Benchmade and Spyderco. Although, Benchmade isn't wowing me with their latest offerings.

Fugeddaboutit, I'll go with Chris Reeve.

For best bang for buck... Cold Steel

For sexiest looking grinds... Emerson

For best ergonomics... Spyderco

If I could only buy from a single company it would be Spyderco. Great no BS designs, nice range of steels and blade profiles...just imho, the best folders made.

Second would be ZT/Kershaw.

I buy a a little of everything, no favorite. Most companies fail to offer a sufficient variety of products, consistent quality, and/or affordability for me to ever consider buying their knives exclusively. AG Russell might be an exception; their designs cover a wide variety of styles, enough to keep me entertained for some time.

I love the AXIS lock but only like a handful of Benchmade designs but absolutely love the Rift. Spyderco I buy the most of although there are quite a few models I don't care for. I am a steel junky so really like all the Sprint runs in higher end steels. Kershaw has some designs I like as well but for the most part don't like their styling. I do appreciate their customer service and the fact they will send out spare parts. Benchmade is just as good except they won't send out parts. I haven't had the best luck with Spyderco though since they don't keep spare parts around. I've tried cold steel but when I had a problem they wouldn't even look at it without me paying money because I didn't have the receipt. I also got an American Lawman and was not impressed with the fit of the parts. I also think there are better made knives for the price that use better steels. Also the triad lock was so stiff that it almost seems like a 2 hand knife and I like locks that are user friendly. They just haven't impressed me to come back. There are a few other companies that might have a single model I like but none that I would say I'm a fan of. I'm also a folder person so don't pay attention to the fixed blade companies much. I have a couple fixed blades but I just don't use them. Even when cleaning game I reach for a folder.

I'm not particular about any brand. But I do have more SOG blades than any other and I they are the ones I seem to actually carry - my current favorite being a PE II. But usually I'm carrying a custom.
1)Sog
2) cold steel
2) emmerson

I have more AXIS locking folders than anything else, but I don't have much experience with many models for any of the major makers. From my limited perspective Benchmade and Spyderco are both really high on my list. I like what I've seen of some of the Kershaws, but I only have two of them and they're lower-end. Each company also makes plenty of knives that just aren't for me, so I try not to hold those against a company when browsing their product lines.

I always lust after a Spyderco and end up buying a Benchmade. I think something's wrong with my computer.
