Favorite SAK Model (s)

My favorite is the Climber. I've owned several in the past 20 odd years. For years that was my only SAK. Nowadays I rotate several smaller models. A '96 Olympic Executive, Waiter, Cadet and a Sportsman. I've gravitated to the 3" and 3 1/4" models because I can carry them unnoticed.

Favorite? Hmm, that seems to change too often. The ones that meet my needs now are the 60/40 serrated Wenger locking Adirondack (like Vic Spartan but with lock) at office, Vic Centurion on the weekends and Vic Locksmith outdoors.

I have several favorite SAK's. Currently two favorites are the Victorinox Tinker and One-hand Trailmaster.

I've been working to customize these two a bit this weekend and have attached a picture of them. I've put Bocote wood handles on the Tinker and Cocobolo handles on the Trailmaster.

Who else customizes their SAKS?

Cheers!

To me, the Huntsman is the perfect combo of size and tool variety. I'm surprised I'm the first one to mention it.

Dr. Nick,
My Craftsman has a metal saw. It will cut through a nail pretty slick.

The "parcel" hook was developed for the European market. It is used to carry "parcels" that are tied with string. This gives you a comfortable handle to carry it by.

I agree with Frank -- the Climber is my favorite. I carried a Super Tinker for ten years, but never got used to the Phillips screwdriver being on the back of the knife. The t-bar orientation made it hard to get the screwdriver into tight locations, and then it sometimes closed under pressure. :grumpy: When I found that the small screwdriver on the can opener worked fine for Phillips-head screws, I substituted a corkscrew and ended up with a Climber.

Great little knife, and my EDC. :p

I received my Cyber Tool 41 yesterday. It is way cool. Also way heavy, but there's no way around that, given the amount of tools it has. Like I mentioned earlier, it's basically a Handyman with the cyber stuff added on. I really like it.

My favorite SAK has to be the Victorinox Soldier. As someone stated before, It's just so simple, yet has all the right tools.

I used to own one, unfortunately it was confiscated along with some other nice stuff...(College next year! Thank god I will be out of the house!! :p )

I have had two sak's since christmas. A tinker and a climber. I find the tinker more useful, but I also like the climber. I am wanting to get what I believe is the hiker model, a tinker with a saw. I think that would be handy....and really cool. ;)

The Hiker is a really useful model for the woods. It is a Tinker with a saw.

Thanks Paul, the hiker will probley be my next purshase. I find sak's to be very useful.

I just got my first SAK a couple of months ago although I've wanted one ever since MacGyver. For some reason or other I never got around to picking one up.

It's the Vic Deluxe Tinker. Since it's my only SAK, I would have to say that it is my favorite. It was very useful yesterday removing a heavy duty staple. Not the industrial strength ones that are used on boxes, but rather the kind that are used to staple 100 pages together. The pliers made short work of my task.

My favorite is my Outrider. Saw and scissors have proven invaluable.

My several other models are tied for second..LOL

(I do like my Mauser though. )

I have many models and I love them all, but my EDC is the Midnite MiniChamp II. Other favorites include the SwissChamp and the CyberTool 34 & 41.

I'd like to cast a vote for the Cybertool 34. It's like someone made a SAK just for me with almost exactly what I wanted on it. The only thing that would make it absolutely perfect is if it didn't have the hook but in its place was a dedicated phillips head driver. I know that's built into the bits but a heavier duty 'driver to complement it would have been nice.

I actually like the corkscrew on this one because corkscrew = mini screwdriver which I value highly.

Since I last posted I have bought two SAK's. One being a Soldier the other a Camper. :)

The Camper is my favorite SAK that I own right now. I think the Farmer when I get one will also be a favorite.
