Favorite SAK Model (s)

Hi,

I've carried a Huntsman for about 45 years. Actually, it was three Huntsmen as I either wore them out or lost them.

I collect Victorinox SAK's - have about 350 of them. I've carried other Victorinox SAKs, but come back to the Huntsman for EDC every time. Hard to beat.

Cheers - Joe

The Black handled Tinker is my overall favorite for urban carry. I carry an alox Bantam in my wallet at all times in case I don't feel like carrying a knife on my way out of the house.

In the woods it is the Vic Farmer or the Trailmaster. Add a Spyderco Delica in my back pocket and I am ready for almost any task. :)

I really really like my small original Manager (with "emergency" sheepsfoot blade and toothpick instead of pen). The sheepsfoot blade is the perfect thing for quick shallow cuts and sharpens up to a razor edge easily. It's slim enough to be completely unnoticeable in my watch pocket.

I'm getting a quote for customizing the knife with African blackwood scales to match my Mnandi. :D

My favorite SAK is the Swisschamp. I edc'd the thing for years and it's always been reliable and tough. For the hell of it one day, I put together an entertainment center (of about 66 inches tall) with only the Swisschamp.
The One-Hand Trailmaster (now called the Trekker) is a close second.

I received my Cyber Tool 41 yesterday. It is way cool. Also way heavy, but there's no way around that, given the amount of tools it has. Like I mentioned earlier, it's basically a Handyman with the cyber stuff added on. I really like it.

I love my CyberTool 41, too. You have the bit driver and all those bits, along with a nice wood saw and metal saw/file. I carry this one in a sheath on my belt.

Well, I carry around a Farmer, but I'm starting to realize how little I use the saw...

Agreed, I use the saw the least frequently of any of the tools. However, the mere fact you have a saw ON YOUR PERSON is the cool thing. ;)

Couldn't agree more. I rarely use the saw on my Camper, but it's there becuase when I go hiking and camping it comes into play frequently.

Hiker. Somehow missed out on this model until recently. Same blades as the Recruit, which I carried for years, but adds the Tinker's phillips and awl, along with the saw. Perfect combination of size and tools for my typical uses.
If I were to start over from scratch, a Hiker, and either a Classic or a Rambler for the keyring would be the first, and maybe only, models I'd buy.

I have 4 favorites.

1. My Classic goes with me pretty much everywhere. The thing is just too handy not to have around.

2. I carry a Cybertool 34 at work. This is a great knife for people in the computer business. Lots of small screwdrivers.

3. A Huntsman hangs on my belt during the off-hours.

4. The Tradesman is always with me on hiking and fishing trips. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the Tradesman. The handle is just the right size for a comfortable grip.

The two I seem to use the most out of probably a dozen different Vic's and Wengers are the Wenger STD Issue and the Wenger Black Adventurer with packlock.
I like the idea of a locking blade on the regular size SAK'S.
I also bought my two boys the Wenger Green Boy Scout Adirondacks with the packlock.
The boys love to whittle and I feel much better knowing that the blades lock.

Top Four:
1) The Money Clip (use daily)
2) Red Tinker (EDC for work)
3) Blue Climber (EDC for the weekend)
4) Red Spartan (my globe trotter had since college many years ago)

I've been carrying the biggest Victorinox I could get for a long time. My last was a SwissChamp XLT. Now I'm EDCing a CyberTool 41 and I couldn't be happier. It actually has everything I needed from the XLT at less than 75% of the size and weight.
