I imagine I'm going to see a allota VIc farmers in this thread.. But let's hear about or see pictures of your favorite Sak.. I've been digging the camper lately myself...

I've always like the Outrider...basically a Rucksack with scissors. If I'm going smaller, I love the Farmer. Only upgrades I want to get are the addition of scissors and a pocket clip.

I forgot to add that my first SAK was a Huntsman...another favorite as it has everything I like in a compact package.

Ive always had a SAK of some kind, but just recently I kinda "rediscovered" them, and started carrying one again. Since then, Ive bought four new saks; OHT, farmer, Spartan and a Mechanic. The OHT is kinda nice, even though I feel like the SAK steel is a bit on the soft side, making it more suitable for a pocket knife rather than a full size folder. I used the knife for a couple of days in the woods, and after a few sharpenings, the serrations are almost gone already. Other than that, a nice knife.

The farmer on the other hand is now my favorite light woods knife. Farmer + firesteel + waterbottle is all the PSK I need for these warm summer days. The saw is amazing, and the blade is pretty damn good, even though I did manage to bend it a little.

My favorite SAK for EDC however is the Mechanic (basically a Tinker with pliers), which Ive carried a couple of days now. IMHO it contains all the tools I cant replace with something else in a pinch... for example, the little blade which is kept razor sharp, could replace the scissors, but for the pliers there really isnt a substitute. I know many dont like the SAK pliers, but for me they are adequate, and in some ways even better than larger LM style pliers.

The best thing about SAKs really is the amount of models. Its actually pretty hard to think of a combination that isnt on their catalogue :)

I carry a small cub scout knife that I took from my son after he graduated to larger knives. I broke my camper sak at work. I'm undecided whether to get a farmer or the hiker. I have 2 LM waves that I drag around often, but saks are perfect for tossing in a pocket and off you go. Decisions, decisions...

U know what they say about SAKs... "when in doubt, get both" :D

Vic' Farmer...their saws REALLY work! :D

It's a tough call, the Tinker, Super Tinker and Wenger Soldier are also favorites.

I EDC a super tinker with a photon light clipped on , with a Rally on my keys, I also keep a blue alox farmer in my book bag and a second super tinker in the van..

Hi all,
Mine is this one

I love having the locking blade, the saw, and sissors, plus the other tools too but those three are the main ones I use when I use this SAK.
Carrying this SAK with my BPA and I have pretty good combo.

Huntsman for me, I need the saw in the woods and the scissors are damn handy everywhere. Everytime I think of getting a smaller one without scissors and or saw I can't, I just NEED both. I have thought about modding a SAK so it is bladeless seeing as I carry a separate folder for serious chores anyway, and a bladeless SAK would still carry a lot of utility in a small discrete package that would never get me in trouble from the boys in blue, no matter what happened.

I've been kickin around that very idea. Was thinkin about having the large blade on my Super Tinker replaced with a saw and keeping the small blade as a dedicated firesteel striker.

Always been partial to the Vic Farmer. The alox sides dont come off like the plastic scales, and the tool selection actualy is all you need.

+1 on their saws they do indeed work great.

I've been carrying one at work in edition to my Leatherman Ti. It was produced by Victorinox for a company my cousin works for called future nets, the bottle opener / screwdriver and the blade are all it has in it and im not sure what model it is or if its even a production model. Any info?

I like many SAKS, but the Huntsman is my favorite, for both utility and sentimental reasons. I've had mine since I was 12 (I'm 38 now), and edc'd it hard for about 20 years.

Runners up are the alox Wenger SI and the Outrider (Huntsman on steroids).

Small - Camper
Medium - Ranger
Large - Champ

Probably the best compromise for size would be the Ranger, although the Vic Spirit

has replaced them for EDC.

Tried to find a picture of my SAK's but haven't uploaded any, so I thought the picture of the Spirit was better than no picture.

I might have to check one of those spirits out... i love my LM wave mutlitool but the blade grind and handle ergs make it uncomfortable for prolonged wilderness use
