Favorite Sak??

Thanks a Bunch... Just moved the spirit x to the top of my fathers day list....
I am really digging my camper though. I love the farmer.. but the little pen blade is a nice addition.

RR, mine is the same as Doc's...the serrated butter knife:D I would opt to get the spear pointed blade instead, but I usually have another folder so it's not such a big deal. I've carried a Leatherman Charge Ti for close to 6-7years now (before that was the original Wave). I've recently started carrying the Spirit and prefer the handles and the quality...it's a good tool with all the options on it I like; that wire stripper/chisel is pretty neat too. I've used to to score, scrape and of course stripping wire at work.

I think it would make a great Father's Day gift...

I never go anywhere without a Vic Spirit in my bag, a full sized SwissTool in my car, and a Mini-Champ on my keyring.

I have carried a lot larger Vic SAKs, but my recent (<2yr) intro to the Farmer has pretty well sealed the deal, especially with the 'less is more' dictate of late. A case in point recently has been the Skipper, desired due to it's OHT style locking knife - and the requisite Marlinspike - everyone needs one - and those pliers. I finally realized some years back how much better a multi-tool's pliers were, so the SAK's is superfluous. I've never needed a corkscrew, so that could go. A Skipper less them is a Helmsman - which I found new at a store for a great price yesterday - that's something I'll likely carry - when I don't tote the Farmer! Less is more.

Hey Stainz, the Skipper sounds interesting. Any chance of a picture?

hhmmm... lets see... i would have to say, my favorites are:

-the classic
-farmer
-camper
-OHT

Here is the requested Victorinox 'Skipper':

That's a Buck 301 Stockman on the left - and a 315 in the middle - with a 'real' Marlinspike. The Victorinox 'Skipper' has a skeletonized Marlinspike - which also opens hasps, etc. Take away the pliers and corkscrew, and move the Phillips driver to the rear, and you have a 'Helmsman' - a good bit slimmer.

Here is another view of the Skipper - with a Vic Blue Alox 'Farmer' for comparison:

I love the farmer.

I really really really want an OD green anno one w/ pocket clip, and just the saw, blade, and awl from scibeer...

Anyone have a link to that guys site?

My favourite is the previous Soldier model !
It's a great all-around knife.I love it.
But I haven't carried a SAK for a long time - the Case Trapper has won a permanent place in my pocket.
The SAK Soldier is more practical and sturdy then the Trapper, but the Case has a "warmer" feeling with it's bone handle inlays, carbon steel blades and just more traitional look...
Maybe I should carry both ?

i have a couple saks but i have to say that the sak farmer is my favorite
it is good as a edc knife for the city or the woods
a great knife in my opion

Its a Farmer with a small sheepfoot blade instead of the can opener. Also no split ring knob to dig into your hand during extended use. My Farmer went to college with my son.:D--KV
