Favorite Sak??

RR, we all have different tastes, but I love it. Maybe check with Rock6 and pitdog, because, IIRC, they share the feeling.

I don't know what you call the shape, but it is blunt and the edge is a combi edge, mostly serrated, but that's no problem since I EDC a knife or 2 anyway.

I don't have any pictures of the blade so I found a link. The knife blade is directly below the saw in this picture.

For the woods, it's a tough choice between that Rucksack you gave me ( ) and a Farmer. I really like the awl on my Farmer though, which sometimes pushes it ahead.

For out in the woods I was real happy to find my Outrider Camo, Its pretty much a normal outrider but with the screwdriver instead of the corkscrew - I swear they think everyone carries a bottle of wine with them for the amount they put that corkscrew on everything...it makes it very uncomfortable to use for any length of time with it. I used to have corkscrew shaped calluses:grumpy: - would prefer it it in red or another color, but best combo of tools I have found yet.

The outrider is a bit large for pocket carry so for day to day I usually carry my Alox soldier or farmer. The soldier is just a farmer with no saw (with a noticeable weight reduction without it), and while booting around the city i really have no use for the saw.

Fieldmaster or Cybertool lite. Fieldmaster is the same as the Huntsmen but the substitutes a philips head screw driver for the corkscrew.

It's gotta be the OHT, Rucksack, and Farmer for me. Usually the OHT is the one on my belt if out in the woods. I got the combo edge version before I knew there was a plain edge. But I actually don't mind the serrated edge much since I usually have a plain edge folder or fixed on me; it's kinda nice to have it as an option. The Farmer is a great EDC since it offers so much in a durable and easy to pocket package. I usually have a Classic on me at all times, and I have a leatherman Micra in my hiking pack, so I'm fine with not having scissors on any of those.

Don't have any pics of the Rucksack, had that one for a while. Here is one of the OHT and a Farmer when they were new:

Looking to try a Vic Spirit soon

I hate to jump on the farmer bandwagon, but it really is my favorite. I think i would be just fine with anything as long as it had an awl, knife and saw though.

I love the farmer. However, I believe once I get the OHT that will be changing. I handled one at a local store and I loved it.

I agree.

1. Fieldmaster
2. Jumpmaster (a lesser known SAK)
3. Farmer or Soldier (1991 model w/ hollow rivet)

That's a tough call for me. It comes down to two though:

The Stayglow, Plain Edge, One Hand Trekker, or...

The 108mm Safari.

I generally have one or the other on me when I'm in the woods. If push came to shove I might go with the 108, but I wouldn't want to have to choose!

The Climber and the Farmer find their way into my pocket more than other models I own.

The newly available Spirit X has a conventional spear point blade, but retains the scissors. I really, really want one.

My original Spirit is, hands down, the best multitool I've ever had. It has the best ergos, the best fit and finish, and the best array of implements. I disliked the serrations, so I ground mine off and beveled both sides long ago.

Thanks a Bunch... Just moved the spirit x to the top of my fathers day list....
I am really digging my camper though. I love the farmer.. but the little pen blade is a nice addition.

sak steel is some tuff stuff i hamered a large sak blade through a nickle with almost without any noticible damaged.

My favorite SAK is the one in my pocket. I EDC one SAK or another. They are great in the office and paired with either a Buck 110 or Alpha Hunter, hard to beat for woods walking.

I am thinking of getting a stockman pattern and having somone add a saw and awl to the configuration (with the addition of some jigged bone or wood handles). If i had that done, I am sure that would be my new favorite. But, I am sure it would also come at quite a price.
