What is your favorite kind of sheath? ( for knife or gun )
I love leather, The feel, the smell, the look but it's not always the best.
Kydex is great I like it on neck knives and IWB holsters
Nylon is not my first pick for a gun but for a knife, if it's well made with a good liner I like it.
I am looking forward to the BK16 I hope the pouch is big enough for a small dimond stone , ferro rod and some Dacron line.

Well I'm going with leather, weird I know. :) Doesn't crack or deform under heat among a thousand other reasons I could probably think of.

Leather.

Wow Captain where you live again!!!! I am waiting on leather from Sky. I am a huge fan of the Moo Suits!!!

depends on the ''style'' of the tool I'm dressing.

all black ''plastic'' GLOCK...I think looks at home in black kydex

blue/walnut S&W revolver...why that just begs for some nice leather!

same sorta principle for blades.

I don't like black leather, never buy/own ANYthing in black leather. If I want black I go kydex...I just love me some dark brown leather though.

*edit-thanks to Cap'n A I now like black leather a Whole lot more then I did 5 minutes ago! ;)

I do believe your piggy back moo suit is finished, ships out on monday

Apparently I need to hire the captain to model.

I'm new to real knives but I still get an opinion right? I'll answer anyhow.

I think it really does depend on what it's for, shiny knife with wooden handles deserves a beautiful leather sheath. While a black knife with synthetic handles (i.e. grivory, g10, or micarta) should have a matching or slightly contrasting kydex sheath. It depends on the finish of the blade and the material of the handle.

There's a reason they didn't learn how to make plastic sheaths when the only handles they had were wooden or bone and they didn't have black powder coatings on the blades.

If you have a shiny knife with synthetic handles means it should probably get new scales. If you have a black knife with wooden handles, probably means you should find some sand paper and take that black powder coating off. Then after those fixes you should get a corresponding sheath.

The exception to this is synthetic handles, black powder coating and a black leather sheath.

All in my personal opinion.

Edit: I wasn't gonna say this and it's probably against my better judgement but I think I'm gonna move to Oregon.... Go bushwhacking with some of the local high school girls and learn how to do it the right way.

I'm a Chuddy Bear sheath guy for knives and either an Alessio bodyguard shoulder holster or Comptac kydex paddle holster kind of guy for my various firearms.

I wear my glock 27 every day in a owb crossbreed snapslide and I love it. Best of both worlds with leather and kydex.

As usual, the Cap'n has better pix than any one of us could take, me at least.
It depends on the knife, the situation, and where/how I will carry said knife. F'rexample, I run a Spec-Ops sheath on my 7, becaue it will be in the elements, it'll get wet, etc. but with my Condor Bushlore, the stock leather sheath is fine, I won't exactly be sliding down a mudslide with it on. On any knife that I intend to neck carry, it will either have a plastic sheath (like the bk11) or Kydex (CRKT ringer) or I won't carry it as such.
ETA- I'm currently not legal age for a CCW, so I don't carry a gun at the moment, but when I do, I imagine I'll ue a Kholster, leather/kydex hybrid
