I was looking through GECs in progress pics and saw this picture of the outlaw with the Jack shield.

Got me thinking about sheilds, I find the shields that appeal to me the most are the plain sheilds like the acorn, bomb shield, cloud shield, propeller shield, etc. (not the branded shields like un-X-ld, Tidioute, etc., still like these just not my first choice)
Sometimes I also like the unusual shields like this Jack shield, and the Beaver tail.
Thought it might be kind of fun to see what peoples favorite shields are and some of the interesting shields that are out there.

I don't know if this one is interesting but it is my favorite. I guess its the Federal Shield?

Sometimes my favorite shield is a good old federal shield, its such a classic!

I agree about unbranded shields, I wish GEC would release their jigged bone with unbranded shields more often!!

Love that knife Kevin. My favorite shield is the double bomb.

Hah! Great minds think alike! I didnt even see this before I posted above, that is a federal shield, I believe Tony has a thing for them. I've got a winchester that I love that has a federal shield too:

Thanks guys, and nice examples of the shields. I find this stuff interesting. Its not important in day to day life, but its trivia that I can be fond of :)

I really look forward to seeing this thread take off.

Sorta partial to a cloud shield, would like some double bomb and propeller one of these days. Got lots of Federals etc.

I'm on the lookout for that Krack-a Jack shield Outlaw in the OP...do I dare get two of the same pattern with a Tidioute Outlaw ordered? Hmmm...

My favorite is the third one from the left. Its the same one on the famous...Ryuichi Kawamura Sowbelly.

Of all the knives I have this one is a favorite

And one I just recently saw is this one on a Sperry and Alexander smoking knife

That one is different, don't think I have seen that particular one before. I like it.

Not sure what these two are called but for some reason they kind of make me think of a woman's dress.

Lovely picture Kevin. One of your best, and you have some great ones!

My first preference is for no shield, but I guess I like this one too (variations on a theme). Sorry for the photo quality, I just stepped out the front door and took a quick pic.

Nice knives Doug! I like the shield on the knife in the center best. For some reason I like the broader designed ones with less sharp edges.

Thanks a lot for the praise on the photo. I got lucky using my girlfriends Iphone. Sheesh.

ETA, Sturzi, I agree. I always thought it was a chess piece. I no longer have the same thoughts on that style. I wouldn't kick a knife out for it but I wouldn't go looking for one either.

Thanks Kevin. Here are a couple more. LF&C first.

Imperial (between the already pictured Utica, and the Remington)

I would not call either of these a favorite, but I do find the oval on the LF&C interesting.
