I go with the CF Caly 3. I recently picked up a RIL Sage II, thought it might depose the king. But I just can't keep that darn Caly out of my pocket.

The 2 Spyderco Gentlemen's folders that have always captured my heart are the C-39 Mini Micarta Dyad and my Carbon Fiber Cricket.

I also agree with Deacon ( that doesn't happen very often :D) that the Kiwi is a really classy gentlemen's folder. I do not like the fact that it is one of the very few Spyders that doesn't have a pocket clip  I never could understand the reasoning behind that. It just doesn't seem like a genuine Spyder without the clip :(

When my very best friend died back in 2005 he was getting to be a more aggressive Spyderco collector than I was at the time. He was supposed to go to the 2005 BLADE show with me but he got sick and couldn't go. He called me at the show and asked me if I would find him a Spyderco Kopa model. I couldn't find one but a knife dealer friend of mine got one for me when I got back. My friend died before I could deliver the knife to him. I wanted to bury the knife with him but his brother took an extreme liking to the knife so I gave it to him instead. I will never forget the Kopa as long as I live for that reason alone. But because of the surrounding circumstances I'll never be able to carry one. But it's one Spyder Gentlemen's knife I'll always have a great respect for.

military,a classic.........

For the true officer and gentleman, couldn't agree more. Never be ashamed of carrying a manly knife! As the Longines adds say (IIRC), "elegance is an attitude".

If by "gentleman's knife" you are trying to say "small expensive folder that will never see hard use", well, I guess there are many options out there. But my gut feeling is that any small Spydie is a lot more capable than meets the eye.

The Sage of either variety - it's a crossover Gent's knife. Sort of a hybrid - not too small and certainly not too big. Works like a top flight medium duty EDC while looking good, and carries in an elegant fashion . . .

I have a new carbon fiber Kiwi that will replace my Fallkniven U2 as an edc on some days. I have a Kopa in jigged bone that never gets carried - I don't like clips on small knives and you can't remove the clip too easily from the Kopa.
The clip is the only thing that keeps me from getting more Kopas - they will wind up in the drawer and not in my pocket.

Definitely another excellent and extremely elegant choice, as are both the jigged bone and black pearl Micro Dyads.

Wow. From whence did this model come? Looks really classy.

I was thinking of suggesting the JD Smith, but this one takes the crown.

Kiwi Carbon Fiber just bought $84 shipped NIB

What do you guys think of the Cat and Chicago?
Both small CF and Wire clip! Sounds like nice gent knives to me as well. Haven't heard any buzz or seen any pics of the Cricket, Chicago, or Cat!

where they at?! haha

Kiwi for me. The current CF one has a very subdued, classy, look.

Older jigged bone has a more rugged, outdoorsy look. This one's been given the FFG treatment by Tom Krein...

And they're so tempting to customize...

Sambar stag purchased by me and installed by Santa Fe Stoneworks. Bolsters engraved by David Clevinger.

Paul,
Great pictures. Kiwi is not my cup of tea, but I love these pictures.

My Lum Chinese; even though I had to take it apart and do quite some F&F fine-tuning - especially in the rough-edges department. I recently handled the Chokwe though and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at the level of workmanship there. Action was BM or even CRK-like.
