Favorite Sub 3 inch Folders

Jackknife- Huh, I've never really thought about carrying a small fixed blade. My smallest is a little finn style, which wouldn't really fit in a pocket very well. I'm not sure if a fixed blade would work well for college carry but I really like the idea

I know the GEC pemberton is a small one but it's pretty pricey for such a small knife, and to be honest it's a little chunky looking for my taste.

Chunky. That's a good word for it, and I totally agree. While I lust after a GEC White Owl, in this size range, the Case peanut is still champ, in my opinion.

Wow that is an awesome looking little knife, may need to try to find one of those. Also what's with the squirrel motif in this thread? haha
As for the squirrel, GEC uses that etch on their 440C bladed knives, don't know why the Douk Douk chose that, but I'm curious about that model.
This one may be on the chunky side size wise, but for me that is what makes it work. Large hands make the usuall small patterns a no go for me. I love the looks of the peanut, but for me too skinny to get a decent grip on them.

I like peanut size/style knives. Here are my two peanuts with a Sears Craftsman, made by Camillus or Schrade.

I also like the Schrade 12OT.

If I had to pick an overall favorite from the group it would be the chestnut bone peanut.

Hmmm, lots of fans of the sub 3 inch knives around here. I knew we had a strong peanut cult, but not that many little guys. I wonder if we need a sub cult. One just for the ones here. Call them the short rounds, or something. :D

Carl.

The Cult has much wisdom to offer:thumbup:

Personally, I consider myself an un affiliated believer ;)

Everyone seems to love the pembertons, I should clarify that when I said it was chunky I was thinking of the blade- it's definitely a beautiful knife! But with the thicker blade stock it just seemed to me like it would be difficult to get it as sharp as my nut, and like it might not slice as well. Has that not been the experience you guys have had?

Nope! The blades aren't that far different as far as thickness, and at this size sharp is sharp.
From a previous post/thread (sorry, no top-down picture to more directly compare the blade thicknesses):

As far as the Pemberton's weight-for-size, I liken it to the feel of the faux-ivory dominoes now readily available vs. the cheaper black wooden ones; for me, the extra weight is pleasant.

(I admire the Peanut, and love its serpentine lines, but have formed no great affection for it.)

Forgot to mention- Pertinux I love the look of that little schlieper! Absolutely beautiful.

Thanks. :)

Hey Doug any idea on when that Craftsman was made? I recently was given that exact one and love it:thumbup:. It's a perfect size, it's even a little smaller than the legendary Peanut and a great watch pocket edc. Thanks for those great pics!!

I am not sure. Pete has a Schrade branded one just like it. Maybe he can give an idea about the date.

Sorry Doug, I was out most of the day and just saw this, I will look for something, I know somewhere I had found a date, when I find it I will post.
