Very nice Paul, I forgot I have a Buck 425 in a survival tin, I really like those tadpoles, I'm going to keep a eye out for one.

I really really like them. 1967 was the last year for tadpoles so they can be hard to find especially a good one. I've been looking for the green bone and yellow cell ones for a LONG time (hint hint everyone hint)

Better late than never.

Stayed true to thread title and only showing some 3 inch and smaller Buck folders. One of the forums favorites the Buck Cadet Stockman is over 3 inches in closed length. So I am playing with the 309 Companion and the 305 Lancer. The 305 I consider a 'second' knife good for a watch pocket, purse or other such hide out spot. But, the 309 is big enough, and its two blades will let it play in the 'Peanut' world. Current standard scale versions are: black sawcut, yellow Delrin, dark grey Dymondwood and red Dymondwood with Chuck Bucks etched signature. 300Bucks

Shown top left then counterclockwise: How about a Lancer sized knife with a small scissors. This 1989 pink Clipper model could go on a key ring ready to snip those frayed threads; my favorite of this issue is a jigged bone version from 1990, both these Clippers, in these and other colors can still be found on the Bay; on the bottom are two of my favorite 309s. Both will have to be searched out, the 2007 imitation impala is buffalo horn with some nice jigging and then 2008 elk horn version which should yellow nicely with age and handling. Both are available with some searching; finally brand new versions of the 309 and 305 with Red Dymondwood scales and 'BRASS' bolsters and liners. These are part of a complete line-up of 300 models with the brass hardware (301,302,303,309 and 305) These can be found on dealers currently. All blades Bos 420hc.

Here are three of the current 309 production scale types. Grey Dymondwood, Red Dymondwood and Yellow smooth Delrin. The current Grey scales are being rounded on the ends and edges more than the one in this photo. The difference between 2008 and 2009 design change. In 2012, Chucks signature and the red DW has a regular shield front like the others.

My favorite small knife is the Buck 309. This one will now be airline friendly so it should get some travel time.

Here's a trio of Hiroaki Ohta's sub three inch folders. I like every one of them and they all get some light EDC duty.

It must be difficult to choose which of those Ohta's to pocket on a given day!
Real beauties there:thumbup:

Wow, now those are some attractive knives!

Thanks guys! Mr. Ohta does make a really fine traditional knife. Mechanics, fit and finish are all top notch. That's three of the four I have. The fourth is a 3.5" WT.

Yup, gotta love the Otha's nice knives!!!

This little one from Queen is pretty sleek too, put the edge bevels on there with the edgepro...

That's a nice looking little knife Gary. But with your mad photo skillz a hunka' dirt would look good too! ;)

Ha, you are far too kind sir, those were quickly taken with an iPod touch, but you can still make out what it is, very cool and VERY small blade, the extremely narrow tip is pretty handy at making curved cuts in material like foam, used it the other day and thought gee, that's handy ;) To fully appreciate it, I'll need to take a photo of it in hand, sometime...

Definitely the Pemberton, followed by the Peanut.

I have never liked knives with acrylic covers but I have to admit this is one GREAT looking little knife. I feel drawn to it. If I have to start buying acrylic handled knives I am holding you responsible. You sir are an enabler. Like my knife addiction wasn't bad enough already now you got me wanting blue.

Here's a shot of that Queen along with her minon's ;)

little_knives.jpg

Blue one is a 5 bladed Case from a friend in Alaska, from many years ago!
the fixed blade, pardon the fixed blade, a Boker Gnome designed by Jesper Voxnaes, sharp little rascal
An old Parker Congress with stag scales, oldy but a goody, picked that up in Lewisburg at the show there
A Case Tuxedo, kind of a trade with a kind gent on the forums, very cool small knife, great cutter!
Small pearl scaled and very old folder, a gift from a lady and her husband in FL, it was found in his mother's desk, encrusted in rust, they gave it to me and I knocked off the rust to find a gem, blades still work, and both are ground almost zero bevel, very sharp now!
Kershaw Centofante/Onion also a gift, I have friends you see and glad of that :) Cool wharncliff assisted opener with some dots of pearl on there too
and lastly the very small queen toothpick in D2
