Favorite Survival knife?

Rob,

Why not work a deal with Subaru and their spokesman? Picture "Dundee" exiting his Forester in the middle of nowhere reaching behind his back to pull out that monster blade of yours, saying "And yeah, THIS is a knife

!!"

hehehehehehe

I live in worship of that green bowie knife now. Love the sheath too....

How about THE survival knife of the 1940's the Marble Woodcraft? I'm a bit of a traditionalist myself. It is just right for making a lean-to or cleaning a trout.

Standard carry, this is for Australia, light to medium Gum and tea-tree scrub. I take groups of teenagers out on hikes so I carry a bit extra.

Camillus Marshal - Food prep and 'loaner' if one of the others in the party needs a knife for small jobs.

EDI Genesis I.

Leatherman Supertool

The above three ride on my belt so if I'm wearing pants I have my knives.

Falkniven A1 (or Busse Basic #5 when it shows) On a web belt along with First-aid/survival kit and water.

GH Bhojpure or (again, when it gets here

) HI 15in Ang Khola Khukuri, Daypack carry.

Does anyone remember the Al Mar Pathfinder? I think this would be a good knife for chopping/shelter construction.

My favorite, Chris Reeve Project 1. If environment were salty and/or maintainance time/supplies unavailable, I would go with the Fallkniven A-1.

These are favorites. I would also want a multi-tool, Sebenza or SERE 2K, SAK, generator, shotgun, rifle, fuel, communications equipment, single barrel bourbon and a few other incidental necessities.

have to be the kabar!!!!!!.....i was in the af for 8yrs , used it in desert shield/storm. never failed me!!!!!!

These are always the most interesting posts to read. I've been lucky enough to have had my share of "survival" knives in the past. I've recently cleaned out my collection to obtain a couple of my "dream" survival knives. I currently own a Randall model 18 with a 7 1/2" stainless blade, a Chris Reeve Mark VI, a Buckmaster, and a Lile Hollow handle Combat. I'll assume that we're dealing with short term survival...the time between the point you were lost or separated and the time you're found. Within my current collection I would have to rank the Randall as my #1 choice, followed by the Lile, the Mark VI, then the Buckmaster. The Camillus I keep in my trunk has never let me down and is a very practical knife that would also serve you just fine.
