Favorite Underwear

Wow! Y'all wear underwear?

For me, loose briefs unless I'm in a drysuit and then long speedo type...
I really need to try the Duluth Buck Naked. I've read about them for years.

On another note- Budreaux's Butt paste for chafing.
I know it says for diaper rash but nothing else works as well.

OP here. I just want to thank all of you for your educational and informative responses. I am going to order both the Duluth Trading Company Buck Naked briefs and the Ex Officio boxer briefs. I'll post again after I've received them and worn them for awhile and let you know what I think.

I also want to thank everybody for treating my post in mature manner. I did an identical post on Candlepowerforums.com to see what the guys over there would recommend. A couple of guys over there weren't too happy with my post - I guess it paints too graphic a picture for some. But, how else are you going to ask about masculine concerns? I don't blame them, though. I almost didn't post my underwear question. I was afraid some might think it was a joke, but I figure every guy out there must have experienced the same kind of underwear discomfort at some time in his life. At any rate, I'm glad I did post. Thanks Bladeforums members! This is always my number 1 place to ask question about ANY type of gear!

They were designed for travelers to cut down on luggage so you wouldn't need to check baggage. Their ad says something like "7 days, 5 countries, and 2 pairs of undies" or something to that effect.

Icebreaker brand underwear for travel works really well. The merino wool doesn't itch or stink. When you do wash them, they dry really fast. Best of all, when I originally bought them, NO STINK so I could enjoy my evenings instead of washing boxers! You can easily go one week between washing them without in a stink which was impossible with the synthetics. The same holds true for shirts, shorts, pants, and outer wear with a very flexible temperature range.

underwear is for wimps, just go all commando,,,nah i like Under Armour boxer,or fruit of the loom boxers

I alternate between the Under Armor Boxer Jocks and my Exoficcio Boxers. I can wear the Exoficcios for days without stinkin' up my shorts. Great when I go on day trips that turn into multiple day trips. Even gone so far as washing them in anything from the hotel sink to a small creek (downstream of my watering hole of course).

For outdoors folks, underwear is serious business.

One more vote for the Ex Officio boxer briefs. Comfy, breathe well, dry fast...straight up the best undies I've ever worn. Too bad they're so expensive.

I use Murano briefs. I'm not a fan of anything that doesn't offer support, but I also don't like long underwear halfway down my thighs. I try to wear as little as possible without sacrificing comfort and support.

Hathaway knit boxers at Costco. 3 pack, 95% cotton, elastic doesn't die, sizes up to "44-46".

A buddies wife worked part time at lululemon for a bit, and used her staff discount to buy a few of us boxer-briefs. (yes, totally normal that my best friends wife bought me underwear) anywho, the best way to describe it is like being cupped by an angel. super comfortable. I like them on days too hot for normal cotton, where its going to get saturated before it can wick away. Also great when fishing, in case I wade in a bit too deep. They are $$, but for this die hard cotton lovers, maybe give synthetics a shot and see how they go.
My day to day is fruit of the loom boxer-briefs, especially the comfort band ones.

I go commando unless I have to wear underwear for something (gym, sports hmm that's about it actually).

The best I've found is ExOfficio. I have some that has seen 2 combat deployments to really hot climates, and half of Europe too. It's also the only stuff I've ever used that dosen't need replacing after a year. Averages 3+ years before wearing out, usually the elastic goes first.

Doesn't bunch, or pill, or stick, or chaff. Can be washed in a shower, a bucket, or by illiterate locals without damage. Dries real fast. Light and soft.

Great stuff.

This is after trying everything else. UA, Haynes, Polo (they have one micro fibre that's pretty good too), even REi and NorthFace. Silk, cotten, poly, ect. Never going back to any of it.

Just ordered 3 pairs of the ExOfficios with my REI dividend. Hope they are as good as you all say. I am sick of wearing out cheap undies.

Ex-Officio briefs. Not boxer-briefs, just briefs.

I'll never buy anything else again.

9" Underarmour Boxerjocks Original Series. Best I've found yet. And since I'm not filthy rich and can't afford to wear one to two pairs of $20-$25 underwear a day (more than half the shirts I wear) I also have a good collection of the Champion brand boxer briefs from Target. I forget the exact style name but they're the Champions that come in the hard plastic box, usually one or two pair at a time for about $10 each. They're very similar to UA, but definitely don't have the durability. The UA's really seem to last a long time...I've yet to toss a pair and wear them for day-to-day stuff to competitive sports.

One thing though...I have to have at least a 9" inseam. I'm 6/2, 205# and have been known to be called "horse legs". Anything shorter than that and they ride up in to my crotch all day long...total pain in the balls (egh-hem). I will say about UA though...they don't really advertise it, but they back their products 100% and will exchange anything over the phone. I bought a pair of the UA Touch style in 6" one time and hated them...my $3 Hanes were better at the time. I called and they sent me whatever other type I wanted, no questions asked (worn with no receipt). They either charge your card, ship the new item and refund it when they get what you send them...or wait to get your item, then ship. I was impressed.

Funny how things change. As a kid I'd only ever wear cotton briefs (never tighty whiteys though!). Once I hit my early twenties I switched to cotton boxers and have tried briefs when doing active stuff but can't bear to wear them anymore. For everyday wear I still use regular cotton boxers but have several pairs of ExOfficio Give-N-Go boxers and Terramar Everyday Essentials Loose Fit Boxers which are used primarily for travel to cut down on weight. I actually find the Terramars better fitting that the ExOfficios which I find a bit too baggy. The Terramars are also a bit cheaper than the ExOfficios, both of which I bought at Campmor on sale.

From childhood up until I went to Iraq, I wore Jockey tighty whities (tighty brownies in the Army). Since then, I free ball it. Last time I wore any underpants was boxers in county jail in June 09.
