Favorite victorinox

I carried my old Craftsman for years - and more years. Replaced the scissors spring twice - several TP's and tweezers - even got the scales replaced - still have it, dull as a butter knife - and battered. I started carrying a Buck 110 in the 80's - a 301 in the early 90's. Bought more Vic SAK's - retiring them as they dulled. One day I discovered the Spyderco Sharpmaker - and found a foolproof way to sharpen knife edges, giving me back a drawer full of mostly Vic SAK's - all sharp! The nostalgia of that Craftsman keeps it a favorite. I remember as if it was yesterday... after a family dinner at our favorite Tex/Mex eatery, I was using the TP as it was intended. Number two son, 7, smiled and revealed that number one son had stabbed a spider with it earlier that day. That was thirty-three years ago. Good times!

Nostalgia be hanged - I like my Smurf-blue Vic Farmer better nowadays!

It took me awhile, but I finally pulled the trigger on a silver Alox Solo that wasn't too outrageously priced. I would have preferred some color, but I love the one I got.

The classic. It's always with me, and sometimes, like when I go 'downtown" in D.C., it's my only knife. I've used the SD tip on the nail file to fix an amazing amount of things. Since it's in a sheath on my keyring, I can't leave home without it.

I really wish I could answer this question... For years, decades even, I could answer the question without a second thought: I carried the Climber, period, for over 30 years, and loved it.

[cue "House of the Rising Sun" o/~ o/~]

Then I started fooling around, slipping out on my Climber and making time with other SAKs... Huntsman, Climber Plus, Camper, Compact, Spartan, Waiter, Rambler, Manager... I like and carry them all.

But those days of youthful innocence -- the heart-warming tale of a boy and his pocket knife -- are gone forever. And I can't settle on a favorite.

Small Tinker.

Best tool selection in a small and compact package. I carry one every single day.

I actually do not own an SAK currently (I know, blasphemy). Maybe I'll pick one up this week.

I'm looking forward to getting a Victorinox Farmer Orange ALOX 91mm out later this Summer. It's exclusive to one dealer and you have to search for it.

Fieldmaster (Super tinker with saw added).
I used to carry a mini Victorinox with scissors on my keys with a Cadet/Pioneer but lately I carry my keys with less crap on it so I switched to Fieldmaster.
Because I must have scissors and a Philips screwdriver and the saw (which I don't use but it is a wicked saw) is only a thin layer.

Alox in 93mm: Soldat, Pioneer, Farmer, Electrician, and Rancher. While I really like the alox Mini-Champ, it needs to be offered in a more useable size for me, such as 84mm...58mm is fine for Cub Scouts and Brownie Scouts, but not for my hands.

I used to travel with this one long before the TSA air travel restrictions.
