I don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said many times. I still thank God that I stumbled on to this forum when I finally did.
There seems to be a spirit at this forum that I never found at any other spot. So, most of the time I donn't even look to the other forums. I follow a thread link posted here sometimes and have learned a lot for doing so but most of my learning I have picked up on this forum since joining. I have found that the information that I have learned here has 99+% of the time correct or close enough that a slight adjustment to the way I was trying to do what I learned finally worked.
I have seen generosity on this forum that has given me a feeling of embarressment for not being able to help when the need arose. Then a feeling of pride when I was able to help out. All in all I would not leave this forum for any reason that I can think of. My feeling is that most on this forum I wouldn't mind having at my back if the crap hit the fan.
Now, as far as blades. There are uses for each blade we all know and, I have had a slight change in my favorites a couple of times due to the way some of the blades have performed so well.
I have thought so many times in the last few months about what to take if I couldn't come back to the house. It would be very hard for me to dig a hole, grease, put in a plastic bag and bury all the khuks that I could not reasonably carry. Buried in the hope that I would be able, before I left this earth, to come back an retrieve them.
The one that I have decided to take is heavy enough to do an awful lot of hard work and light enogh to still be a good weapon. The Kumar made WW11 that I have is just such a beast. 16.5" of dynamite. The sweet spot is hard enough that the edge needs very little care to stay sharp. It is not so long that it would be inconvenient to carry on a belt. The weight I a bit more than I would have carried if I didn't have this knife but I would try to live with the 26 oz. beast. Don't take me wrong. I love all the HI Khuks that I have, and my little ones would go with me where ever I had to go, The little KK neck knife, 12" AK a good utility knife would not stay behind.
I think Sarge is right. That 16.5" knife is big enough and small enough. Kind of the best of both worlds. Kumar made mine so strong and big for the length of my neighbors don't even notice the little AK when I have both of them out and about.
That big knife work for me.
