Favourite kukri

Agree, I have zero visions of ever having anything to do with a knife fight. I'm a shooter not a knife fighter. And I'd prefer to avoid that too if I can.

I have no intention of getting in a gunfight - but I carry a gun and practice using it in self-defense situations. This goes all the way down the list of my tools to cold medicine, which I am currently using despite my lack of desire to contract a cold. So a tool's secondary use as a weapon weighs heavily in my personal purchase calculus. I may not be one of those people who asks "What if..." until I get an answer that satisfies my ego but I don't discount possibilities either. Insert lawyeresque "Don't Flame Me Bro" here.:::)

In a way it's like a car insurance. You probably will not use it next week, but if you have to then you are glad you got one. In addition a knife has the advantage that it isn't just money out of the window if you don't use it to defend your life. You can look at it, use it for multiple tasks and resell it any time. Same goes for guns albeit their everyday household tasks are a bit more limited :p

Who needs rat traps when you've got .22 birdshot, a .22 revolver, and safety glasses? Fun for the whole family!:D

Hey Jens!!! Think you could make it to my house by Monday to tell my wife that when the Giant Chitlangie Bowie comes in the mail! Ill buy you a plane ticket! Help a brother out man!:D:eek::rolleyes:

Would I be allowed to swing the Giant Chitlangie Bowie too? After you of course.
Where do you life? I'm in California.

Just show your wife the photo's of gehazi's pile of knives. My wife has been like "great another freaking knife". Hasn't said a word since I showed her the blade pile photo.

If you wanna look skinny stand next to a fat person. Or I guess in my case sit.

It's a little late to be compiling excuses. You could try telling your wife that the GCB looked smaller in the photos, but I doubt it will work, especially when she finds out that it's called the Giant Chitlangi Bowie. You might need a plane ticket out of there. And please don't try taking the GCB through security at the airport. :D

Haha.. That GCB "knife" is well inside the sword territory... Heck I have seen shorter swords that weigh half as much...

I am glad the blade pile has served someone well ! and yeah I love the chitlangi bowie sword thing, i want one in horn ! and full mirror finish :D

Ha! I like Bawannas idea! "No baby this is a knife nut right here". I think i've tried everything else except the plane ticket outta here. That day may come? I told her Friday while she was on the treadmill:D Had my finger on the speed button while i was telling her. As she got redder with anger id turn the thing up a notch. By the time I got her off the thing she was too tired to biatch (that condition never really exist).
This GCB is horn Gehazi. You would like it! I may put a mirror finish on it someday. I need to stop buying Khuks long enough to buy or make me another belt sander and /or bench grinder. Had the whole setup before the fire but now im down to box of sandpaper and foam pads. Depending on how "village" it is I may just leave it be.

that satin finish is actually a much more difficult thing to manage , they do it so much you think its easy , ,but just like on your chitlangi bowie, look at the fullers, and the lines of the finish, he drew that blade in one stroke along a finisher along each chirra, a pretty damn even line on each one, my satin finish trisuli is the same way-- the satin is loads harder to put on, since mirror is just "make sure its smooth all over" which anyone can do with the right grit :D , but try putting those satin finishes on your blades they way they do and you will see what im talking about.

I too want to set up a competent and respectable knife/gun shop for maintenance on the collection, bawanna's is one to be envied

I can maintain guns and the wood part of anything but knifes not so much. I did pick up a big stone sharpener a few months back but haven't had put it to much use yet. Mostly cause everything so far is still pretty sharp.

My favorite Khukuri is the Ganga Ram Special 18". It's an easy choice because its the only one I have any experience with. It is hard to imagine that there could be a better one. I'm lucky in that I'm so pleased with my choice without even holding one before. I can't say enough about my Ganga Ram Special 18". A beautiful piece of art that excels when put to work as a tool.

Substitute "17.5 inch Chitlangi" for "Ganga Ram Special" and you have my sum total of hands on experience with khukuris. Piece of art that does a hard day's work well.

Well my favorite is the only one I have (I have divested of ALL KLOs). A 15" British Army Service by Rajkumar. It is kind of the "Goldilocks" thing...everything is just right...not too big, not too small (not small at all, it's a beast)...just right.

The favorite of those I don't have, and which I will get someday, will be an 18" M43. Nothing " middlin' " about the M43!!! It's big, it's bold, it curves very dramatically, it doesn't break along the spine but rather flows in a continuous curve all the way to the tip, it's full tang. The M43 is striking and literally awesome in every way!!!

Favorite to hold: 18" Tirtha UBE

Favorite to use: 15" Lok BAS

Favorite to look at: 18" Rajkumar Bashpati

Favorite show off piece: 15" Rajkumar Silver Mounted AK

Favorite Khukri? Do I really have to pick? ;) As far as my grab and go Khukri, it would have to be my 16.5" 21oz WWII or 20" 24oz Sirupati, both by Royal Kami Bura.
