My favorite knives are the "traditional" ones these days. I rarely carry a modern "tactical" folder any more.
Come on over to the Traditional Forum and check it out. See for yourself what all the buzz is about.
With the exception of SAKs I have gravitated toward "modern folders" I think that may be changing. I bought an amber bone Texas Jack in CV a couple months back. I like the feeling of the natural material scales and the way that the blades have developed a "personality" over time. Takes a wicked edge on the Sharpmaker too!
Reese Bose Congress. (although I have not carried/used it yet)
My edc tray. (Some factory knives and customs by Ken Erickson, Rick Menefee, Reese Bose, Tony Bose, Kerry Hampton, Mike Zscherny, Brent Cramer and Tony Huffman.)
Using them for Zombie deanimation, mall ninja activities and batoning might be out of line, but those thinner blades cut better. A whole lot better than thick bladed knives and no they do not slam shut on you if you use the cutting edge. .
I am a big fan of smaller blades also. My tastes leans toward the more modern. The Spyderco Ladybug on my work keys is my go to knife. It gets more use than any other knife I own. I have been hoping Spyderco would make an upscale Ladybug with Ti scales for ages. (I will try out the manbug when it comes out, but I'd still like something with ti scales.) Other than food prep the ZDP ladybug does it all. I like the AG Russel Ultimate pen knife and the newer tiny lockbacks too. I once saw a Chris Reeve Umfaan for sale and still kick myself for not buying it. I never managed to save enough for a William Henry when I was interested in one. The newer ones are too prettied-up for my tastes.
I really only use the ladybug though because most of the others seem to get lost in my pocket.
