FBM chopping fun test

Great little test Cobalt. After my LE comes in, I plan on doing the exact same thing with these:

SHBM
FBM CG
FBM LE
BK9
SRKW SBR

We'll see!

Nice to see the SHBM in action. Still my favorate and is a great blade..

That SHBM and a few other SHBM's have seen some serious action. Just one of the things I have done with them. I have broken other knives doing this:

I think that the only thing that will be comparable to an FBM LE in chopping power will be a 20 inch HI AK or bigger, but thye FBMLE will be much more controlable.

The Std FBM is just awesome as a chopper, even though I can't throw it for crap. Well, I am a little rusty on the throwing part.

That's what I'm hoping for as well.

Great report.

Break out a Steel Heart!

You know you want to...

I'll bet randucci or Mulder will send you one free for testing. :D

Awesome report! Thanks.

Dang, that video was cool -- although i flinched when you pried the tip out of the log on the last throw... Not sure why, i know it'f INFI... Still made me flinch a bit.

I need to try that

As I sit here bouncing my CG FBM around and tossing it from hand to hand...I'd have to say Cobalt's throwing skills may not be THAT rusty.:)

This devil is great for chopping, but poorly balanced for throwing.

Now I'm going to have to go out and try it myself in the woods out back. But not tonight -- must recover first from oral surgery.

Yours in Infi...

Great post Cobalt! Thanks for the pics and video

I agree. Would be interested to see how the other BM's compare. Got a BM-E and a ZTBM to compare to these?

I can tell you right now that the BM-E will not come close to either the FBM or the SHBM. The blade is not as wide and it consequently has less mass. The ZTBM has a wider blade but also suffers frm less mass. A long time ago I did compare the BM-E to the SHBM but I have not used the ZTBM.

Thanks for the input Cobalt :D

Just curious, anyone know what the FBM weighs in at? Just curious how it compares weight wise to the BM-E to get an idea of the difference in mass.

The FBM is very tip heavy, no doubt what makes it such a good chopper. As for difference, I know that there is about 60 to 100 gram difference between the SHBM and the BM-E(SHBM is heavier), and I can feel the difference in weight between the FBM and the SHBM. This user SHBM is exactly 0.25 thick. There are many SHBM's out there that measure in at 0.26 to 0.28 in thickness and they would even out a bit. I have never seen a BM-E FATTY

You need to be more careful when playing with your knives.
