Fear the Walking DEad? *possible spoilers* read at own risk

So what are they going to do with this thing?

It is too big to hide, too large for the present group, difficult to fuel, unarmed, requires relatively large docks and deep anchorages.

It looks like a fun toy for a short cruise, but certainly not my first choice for a zombie appocalypse. For one thing, the story line will get water logged if they get on this thing; will they play the Love Boat theme? Then again the the zombie plot may begin to look more like Pirates of the Caribbean. I would have gone with a much smaller sailboat (free fuel - and good range) or a fast speedboat (shallow draft and able to flee) over the floating palace.

What are they going to do with it? We will have to wait until next season. As far as all the issues that make it all wrong? One thing makes it perfect or bad for the zombie apocalypse. Writer fiat nothing more. The folks who watch this don't do so for educational purposes.

The thing that bothers me most is they talked about how the show was going to show how the breakdown od society went down while Rick was in a coma, but it didnt. It showed life inside an armed, gated community and by the time they got out it looked like it was already pretty much done. They should have gotten more into what happened outside the gates. Like someone else mentioned, where were the ever present street gangs? Show what happened in south central and Beverly Hills. (Well, at least we know Bill Murray lived through the worst of it).

I hope the Liberal lead characters all get bit. The anti gun wuss dad should have got bit first off. Then the junkie in the old man duds. Kim Dickinson is pretty hot so I hope she makes it

I'm thinking the same thing. Sail boat with a swing keel. You can go up a shallow river with it and beach it. I do believe that they are made up to 30 feet in length.

Well, the black dude who owns the yacht did mentioned that he was "prepared", so maybe he has a small arsenal on board along with a bunch of C-rats or MREs, etc. I gotta agree, though, that there are several other "boats" that would appear to be better suited for a zombie apocalypse. :D

Not like boats of that size need 30" to run, and it ain't like a sail boat with any keel can sail in a rain puddle. There are also limitations on the range of sailboats. Anyone who sales more then just on Sundays can attest that the rigging takes a beating. Sails will need mending to. Not as frequently as a big old yacht may need diesel (depending on how you run it) but a sail boat would need to make land quite frequently for food and the one thing few who put to much into critiquing TV shows which is fresh water. Both types would need button jobs, although I have been told the crud build up isn't as bad in the Pacific or Atlantic as it is in the Gulf. The other thing is taking a sail boat or any large boat up a river is hard to do and even now problematic. It's a TV show, not how to.

I'm figuring that yacht isn't just sitting there with no one onboard though I am wondering with no dock or boat visible on the beach below his house how the guy was/is figuring on getting out to it? That's part of why I think it might be manned with a zodiac or other small craft on the port side out of sight to come into shore. Then again, if it's his boat and it's stocked and ready why is he in the bedroom packing dress shirts and stuff? He should have clothes onboard already.

The anti gun wuss dad should have got bit first off.

Well he's not a wuss anymore. He beat up the military guy and he executed his ex wife with a gun so I think he is good to go. Remember Hershel and his family kept their zombie relatives in the barn hoping they would get cured and change back. This dad (Travis) didn't take that much convincing...

You can get sails, rigging and other equipment from other boats, plenty out there.... Though I'm no sailor, I've lived on a 25' sailboat with a swing keel for a month. Nice way to discover beaches ;).

As for mending sails .... Well, one can always learn to sew:D..... A boat is as much work as a house. I'd rather work on maintaining one and have a zombie free place to sleep. A small enough sailboat can be powered by wind and an outboard motor. If ever you cannot fix the motor you can dump it and get a different one from another boat easy enough..... Arrrr... The pirate life's for me:emot-yarr::emot-yarr:

...for obvious reasons like water, food, clothing, etc.... You'll need to come ashore often......
Down side.... There probably would be real pirates around....

The yacht would enable them to excape the Los Angeles area and presumably travel North up the coast. When they have to dock for water, food, etc. it sets the scene for something more akin to the original TWD. Plus the possibility of smaller and faster "pirate" boats attacking them gives another plot opportunity; think of the Somali pirates attacking larger ships.

I would go to Catalina, but I think most local boat owners (even kayakers, etc) would consider Catalina, or I would travel North at least to where in Rains a lot

I work on a 750 ftcargo ship. I am keen on seeing what they do with the Yacht
Here, we have enough fuel to last us 2+yrs at anchor. We have a fresh water generator, we have fishing lines, we have a punt ahould we need to reach shores, we have a huge workshop, and spare everything. Let me tell you, I am all excited about that Yacht! Sailor's dream!

Just a thought and I hope I'm wrong but what if next season this turns into a Zombie Apocalypse version of Gilligan's Island? That theme song keeps running through my head. The black guy would be the skipper and the drug addict son would be his "little buddy".
