FedEx refusing service because of dogs?

This can't be that difficult.

When the driver comes for a pickup, can't your Mother just leave the pooches inside and walk the small packages out to him. A *handoff of sorts...?

I encounter lots of dogs on a regular basis with my job. I love 'em. The only time I've been bitten was a poorly trained little chihuahua. A couple other little yappy dogs have come close. The big ones have never given me trouble.

Just a thought OP, I'm much more weary of small dogs than big ones. In my experience they are more likely to be untrained and aggressive (because they are so small that the owners think it's "cute"). I'm not saying your dogs are like that, but it may be why the driver was apprehensive.

I've been bitten by 3 times, all by little dogs, but never a big one. As Rubicon Joey said, even though the dog is small, the mail carrier can't punt it when it comes barking and being agressive.

As someone who owns pit bulls, a well-trained dog won't scare the mailman. My dog is never out where he can interact with the public. When someone comes to the door, he's trained to sit and be quiet. If he makes any additional noise, he sent to his crate. Just because a dog is small doesn't mean it shouldn't be trained to leave people alone and be quiet.

<< When someone comes to the door, he's trained to sit and be quiet.>>

But I'll bet he watches every move!
Same with my Rottweiler!

Thanks for being a responsible owner. Pitties have an undeserved reputation too. Fantastic dogs!

Having experience on both sides of this one ....... small dogs are the ones who most often bite. People have tolerences for things at different levels. Dog owners always give the old "oh, they wouldn't hurt anybody". If you had to perform deliveries for a period of time you would know better. And I would bet your thoughts on this would change. Even a small dog bite can create a whole bunch of drama for anyone involved - in today's world - it's often better to just avoid the situation.

The driver probably used the dog's as a technicality. Even though they were behind a closed door.
Probably running late or something.
As stated, they are to use their own discretion.
Cheers

My friend's neighbor has a rott. She stands quietly behind her fence, watching every move as i go up to my friends house. Well trained, but vigilent :)

Steps can be a problem, it's not letter carriers being lazy. Some of the old buildings in NYC have steps that are so old they are dished from years of traffic. In wet or icy weather, it's hard not to slip.

35 steps? I would have told you to put a mailbox at the foot of those steps.
The mail box is on the street, there's regulations for that. But I think I do just have lazy carriers.

I have four dogs; Two pit-bulls, A husky, and a rottweiler the smallest of which is a 70 lb Pit so I have had issues with people comping to my house and my dogs scaring them off. My dogs have never attacked before but I have seen them go crazy with barking at the smallest movement.

I have six rescue dogs and the four black female labs will jump in the ups truck to greet him, he does not care.

I'm a courier, and often times have been late finishing up my day because of dogs.

I get caught up playing with them all the time. 15 mins goes fast when you're playing with a buncha pups.

My jumpers are always pussies, "oh no, pitbulls!" I've taken to bringing my pitbull (or as i call him, a bacon retriever) on my route.

I've also been known to butt heads with a few aggressive goats. Those are the ones to watch out for. Needless to say, they send me to all the shady areas. :-D
