Fehrman Knives

Eric, being that you're only a couple of miles away will you be attending the Cambridge show this weekend?

I won't be "showing" at the show but I will be around Friday morning. Terril Hoffman will be taking some pictures of our new blades!

Respectfully,
Eric Fehrman

Let us know when some of these false edge HH knives come available. And if you ever do sharpen some top edges for those of us who live where it's legal, you know you'll have some takers.

Hi Eric,
I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with your company and work. I have been hearing about your knives. What is the turn around time for a knife now and what kind of sheath do they come in? Thanks

Hey all,

I have two different Fehrman knives and I love them both. I have used the Peacemaker much more but I know that whichever one I pick I will be happy with my choice.
I don't have much else to say at this point as I don't get out like I used to. Time will come when I can put the Last Chance to work and then give a better review.
Anyone else have any input?

I got a Fehrman made Hood Hunter bowie(#14) recently and it's an outstanding knife. Eric's heat treatment of the CPM-3V has produced a blade that is extremely tough and holds an edge as well as my M2 blades, or better. It's my first Fehrman blade and I must say I am quickly becoming a fan. Also, with the hand sharpening job I didn't have to do the laborious profiling and honing that I usually have to do on a new knife. The only thing to do now is get another Fehrman........once the wife lets me. :D

Eric, I wrote you an email a couple of days ago about getting a sheath for my Hood Hunter since I didn't get one from Ron Hood..........just in case you read this before you get to my email. ;)

Bumping this to see if anyone has anything new to add as these have been out and about for a while.
Would love to hear what you all think.

I still think my PM has some of the best ergonomics of any blade it's size. The steel holds a good edge in abrasive materials. Excellent knife, I love mine!

Yeah, and I'd appreciate any input on the Thru-Hiker, specifically. Been working on getting a skeletonized neck knife. Almost got a Necker, but missed out. A little concerned about the size of the handle. Too small for medium sized hands? Also, anyone seen the sheath for this knife? Is it straight neck carry, or clip, tech-lock, any kind of multiple carry option? Any info would be appreciated...

I have the neck knife. My hands are fairly big and it fits quite well. The sheath I have is a simple, flat neck sheath, that's really what I was looking for. I'm sure someone like Normark could fix you up with a multicarry option.

One thing I can tell you: I will never part with the black rig that my ex-girlfriend gave me bearing the name Peace Maker. That is one slick blade!

The Peacemaker, Scout and Thru Hiker are interesting knives. I have owned all three, although today I only own the Thru Hiker. The blade guard protrusion seems ackwardly placed for my hand unless you put a finger in the choil, then it feels more natural and under control. It may be that my hand wants more weight and length at the rear of knife, but it just feels wrong to me. That said, the quality of the knife and steel's characteristics are excellent. I am thinking of getting another Peacemaker to see if I can get used to the handle, either that or modify it. Please understand I am picky about handles. I have modified several Busses to fit my hands.

The same goes for the larger Fehrman knives. I like their performance but don't care much for the handle ergonomics. Remember, this is just my opinion though.

Subscribing... been looking lustfully at the Fehrman blades for while, but don't own any as of yet.

I WILL own one before too long. I just wish I could put my hands on a few of the different designs before shelling out the $$ to see which one I like the best.

To me, Fehrman blades are just smooth, well thought out knives. My hands fit well over the handles and I like the design. Ok, they represent an outlay of cash, but they are a great investment. They could be one of the best kept secrets in the knife world.

I agree with your thoughts on Fehrman knives. Here is my First Strike and a Busse FBMLE. The FBM is gone, but the Ferhamn is a "KEEPER". I like the way a Ferhamn fits in the hand more than the sculpted handles on other large fixed blade knives. I have used it for some serious chopping and it still retains a great edge. One nice knife in my opinion and Eric is great to deal with...

I have been looking forward to a Fehrman knife. I have liked them very much for quite awhile. It is good to know that you guys like 'em so much.

I have one on a large Tek-Lok. The sheath is very flat and works fine as a necker.

The handle could use an extra inch for my hand, but it's not really uncomfortable as is. A bit of cord wrap might help.

Choked up, especially with my thumb along the back of the blade, it's great for precise cuts & it's got a lot of power.

The first time I had it out was in warm weather, clipped to my belt, under my shirt. Came home and saw some surface rust on the edge, brushed it off, oiled it -- just the once -- and had no problem since. I think the inside of the sheath is an oil reservoir now, I used a lot ;)
