Glad you like the photo's Cerberus

Eric sent me these pictures this morning. Good looking blades - you will have to ask Eric about any specifics related to the blades.

I got the pictures, very nice. I hope to own one of your fine knives in the near future.

Thanks again,
Jared

Excellent thread, don't know how I missed it. Regardless, my Fehrman FJ is on order. I'll take some pics when it gets in (as in new in box) and later some pics in chopping mode. Then for a real test I'll slice a tomato ;)

I purchased all the Fehrman knives that Phil and Mike of 2thehilt brought to Blade 2004. 1 FJ, 2 ea LCs, 2 ea CFs, and 1 PM. I am a believer in CPM 3V, and Fehrman makes the most reasonable knives using 3V. I have asked several custom makers if they would make a knife in 3V and have had numerous responses but then it came down to "I can, but I haven't yet". Jerry Hossom is also a proponent of 3V, but is so backlogged.

My questions for Eric Fehrman are:
1) Are there any plans to produce more Hood Hunters?
2) What is the approximate time before the release of the new models?

Geode, thanks for posting the pics.:)

I'm in line for a Hood Hunter but as of about a month ago Doc Ron didn't know when more would be available. I could go for a similar custom but with wider handle or just a big Fehrman with a sharpened clip, but I can't seem to get a response to my emails.

hdwrlover, HJK,
A batch of Hood Hunter blades are ready to begin the machining process this week. Depending on what you are wanting there are a couple of blades that could be sent realitively soon - ser. number 008, and 009 are the two remaining original run blades. You'd have to check with Ron for more details. The new blades may incorporate a "false edge", we did that for one of his personal Hood Hunters and he seems to think that it adds nicely to the blades proportions, and adds the posibility of additional function. The false edge would not be factory sharpened. Ron is planning a trip 7/16 where the HH10 will be getting yet another round of testing - sounds like he'll be using new filming techniques - we'll be anxious to see his latest work!!!!

Hope this helps a little!

Thanks Buttonpusher. Glad to hear the wheels are grinding. Look foward to the new line.

I told Mike at 2thehilt that the only thing that I didn't like was the leather sheaths, not because of the quality, but because of the weight. When you're carrying all kinds of other gear you need to minimize weight wherever you can. I go to humid climates frequently and would prefer a kydex/cordura sheath (non-rotting and lighter).

Perhaps a naive question...

Most of the blade shapes in the photos posted by Geode look familiar (i.e. I've seen them on the Fehrman website); the exception is the photo labelled FK5a. What is that? Did I miss something on the main website?

Thanks,
Neil
