You can try fragrant repellents. Citrus is one. If they don't like the smell of the area, they will stay away. Otherwise, they will mark territory.

A heads up on the Umarex pistol - I have the 11j upgrade model, but when I tested it the power was closer to 15j, or 11 ft/lbs. A .50 ball with 11 ft/bs of energy vs a cat will not be "less than lethal".....

That caliber is deadly on feral cats for sure. Have you tried 17 HMR? No overpenetration with those tiny 17 grain bullets.

I have .17 caliber nothing. Where I am, over penetration with anything short of .50 BMG is not much of a concern.

If they can't help you themselves, they can probably point you to someone in your area that can.

As a deterrent, most cats hate mint oil, you can soak cotton balls in it and place them in jars with holes in the lid near the area you want to keep the cats away.

Every time we buy toys, food, litter, or treats for our cats, my wife and I donate to organizations here in CA that do TNR as well as those that take any feral cats that can be socialized and adopted. One of our cats was a rescue kitten from a feral mom, and he's just a playful wonderful little guy that we absolutely love.

Please don't shoot the cats. While I understand they are a huge menace to you right now, please start by explaining to your neighbor the situation.

Cats are very easy to trap in a live trap. You could start relocating them. I have done this.

I used to hate cats until I got one. He's my buddy and very sweet. Please don't shoot the cats!

My buddy had a similar issue at his place. He trapped the cats and relocated them one by one to new homes (in a humane way). It took a bit of time but it solved the issue. Good luck
