This 8" Victorinox Chef's knife came in the mail with a chunk missing from its handle.

It looks to me like another knife's point went into this knife's handle near where the blade meets the handle and popped out a bit of the fibrox handle material.

Kind of looks like a defect that I've seen in glass or obsidian, a bowl-shaped hole in the surface.

I've never seen or experienced a problem with fibrox handles on Victorinox knives before so I found this interesting and thought you might also.

I've contacted the vendor to see what my options are. I'd like one without this problem. The knife was mostly for display purposes in the kitchen. The defect wouldn't really hamper its use as a cutting tool.

Thank you for looking.

The vendor replied to my email saying that the photos were sent to Forschner along with a request that they send me a replacement and pick up this one.

Well, if you'd like one without the problem and you have contacted the vendor, they should do the right thing and replace it for you and I hope they do. Personally, that dimple wouldn't bother me enough, assuming I could work a discount from the vendor. I guess I'm not that particular about my kitchen knives since they see use/abuse from other family members. Not like the prized folder in my pocket:D

I don't think that I am alone here being a little funny about my knives.

I only use red-handled Victorinox chef's knives as kitchen cutting tools. The other colors, except for the black handled ones which are put away presently, are for display/conversation/future use maybe.

I can't tell you exactly how many months it took me to begin using my Spyderco Endura 4 wave after I bot it and carried it. Many months. This delay in usage gave me time to perfect the draw and appreciate what a terrific specimen it was.

A byproduct of this caution with new knives is that I haven't cut myself in quite some time.

Replacement received today from Victorinox out of Monroe, CT. A perfect, blue handled, 8" chef's knife. No charge. No fuss. They didn't ask me to return the injured knife.

Thank you Victorinox (maker) and thank you Eagle Mountain (vendor). Terrific service. I will buy again.

All the best,
