Fiddelback Bush Hermit

Thanks for the comparisons pics Peter.

PolRoger came by today and was able to check out the new models.

We did receive the "first" shipment of osage today. Andy got tired of running out:eek:

That is a great looking knife Peter!! Thanks for sharing the comparison shots. The handle looks like it would be very comfortable. I will definitely be on the lookout for one of those. Does that one have blue pinstripes?

Hey Tod, thanks & it was my pleasure. Since we're spending the summer here in Georgia, rather than in SW Florida, I was able to swing by the shop and pick this up while the others were being wrapped up and shipped. This knife is Osage over natural w/ white pinstripes. The one with the trinity pin out had blue pinstripes if I'm not mistaken.

That's great Phillip, I knew you'd be willing & able to take good care of him. It was impressive to see those awesome slabs of Osage. I would say you guys are "flush". Glad you posted a pic.

My favorite wood for sure. I have one of Todd Hunts knives in Osage. Very classy and tough wood. Oh yea Andy, mine doesn't smell funny. ;)

The story on the name, yes there is one. This knife, as y'all probably know was designed for a trio collaboration between myself, Jared Oeser, and Liam Hoffman. So, I named this after one of my favorite bush hermits, the notable George Washington Sears. More commonly he was known as Nessmuk, at least that was his pen name.

Thanks for sharing the back story on your inspiration for the name. Very fitting given the nature of the collaboration.

Thanks for the comparison pics Peter. Man that Osage really suits the Hermit well, doesn't it?

Yes, I would agree Brian, however, I can also visualize several other handle configurations that would be mighty tempting.

I can too. I think it would look awesome with some bocote and a twist of lime...but at the moment I am really wanting some Osage involved in the project I am working on, and really digging this model, so I could definitely copycat you given the chance...and the financial fortitude to do so...

OOOLALA! I thought it looked like white pinstripes in the pics. I kept looking at the pics thinking it was the one from the Friday sale thinking didn't it have blue pinstripes? The osage with blue pinstripes is nice but I love it with white. With the white pinstripes confirmed... you own my Favorite Fiddleback hermit to date!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Thanks for the informative post Peter. It is a beautiful example!!

Your post and Andy's recommendation made me want to try one and was lucky enough to score this one:
