fiddleback bushcrafter....

I have to at least wait until after Christmas, but this will be next on my list ;) (ANd yes Mike, you are a bad influence! :D)

Here's another to add to the drool-fest. I scored this one a couple of weeks ago in a trade. It's one of the early ones with green micarta, ss pins and one mosaic, and pale yellow-green-pale yellow liners. I have to mirror everything Mike and others have said here and stress how comfortable this knife is. I was so thrilled to get this one.

Andy, I had contacted you about one of these but never got back to you. If it's okay, can I get with you after the holidays and get on your list for another one of these?

I've noticed that you've made some changes to the design since this one. Can you share some thoughts on that? I know the handle looks a tiny bit short on this one but it has no effect on the grip and versatility on the handle

Yes, of course its Okay to contact me!! As to the design, these are one offs and I was tinkering with the shape as I went. The lateral contouring hasn't changed IIRC, but the profile contours are minorly different. And the handle materials have varied also. Also, the grind has changed on each batch.

I'm now happy with the grind. Its less scandi and more convex like the F1. I'm about to change the steel from 01 to 1095. This is because 01 tool steel is mega bucks compared to 1095, which I consider to be a little better steel (JMO).

The handle design is nice and set too. After Christmas I'm going to contact a waterjet cutter and have a bunch of these done. It will standard the design significantly.

Also, the website is upcoming. And six designs have been digitized for waterjet cutting. I'll be showing these to you guys soon too. 3 of them are brand new, never seen before! (Bushcrafter Jr, EDC, and Bow Legged Joe)

This thread has been just awesome to watch.

Marcelo, that lanyard tube is steel water pipe. Mike's is mikarta, and the third there has none.

Loved seeing these pics!

Andy,

Thanks for your prompt response to my email query. I replied with my order information.

And thanks to everyone on this forum for sharing the great pics of their bushcraft knives.

since andy is one of my "targets" for my knifemaking progress, i suppose i should hunt one of those down sometimes and do some side by side work with one of mine.

looks like a really great knife, jealous.
