What a great way to start my Monday!!

Congratulations Tekton!! That is awesome! Words can't describe the joy of being a parent! (until they're 2 that is :D)

Wow Brian. I am so thankful! Praise the Lord. I am so relieved my friend. Give dad a big ol' hug!!

Congrats Tek!

I'm glad to hear your father is recovering well Brian!

Proud grandpa moment... I was the mystery reader (favorite childhood book) today at my grandson's school. I had to email 3 clues in advance for the class. The kids try to guess who the reader is. I was instructed to arrive at 2:50 and knock 3 times. My grandson opened the door. (He is located directly in front of my right arm with a gray shirt/blue sleeves) We had a great time.

My favorite childhood book: "Where the wild things are"

That is really cool Dave! The kids have great smiles all around. They must have had a good time too. :)

I think they had a good time. It reminded me of a scene from Kindergarten Cop. LOL After reading them the book they had all sorts of fun - off the wall - questions. Being a parent is something special but being a grandparent is hoot!

Such a cool thing for you. I bet he was super excited to open that door and see you. Great photo!

That is an awesome photo Dave. It looks like all the kids had a great time. Reading is underrated these days. I wonder if your grandson's generation will be the last one to read real books.

I am glad that you had this special moment with your grandson and his classmates. I'll bet he talks about this day for a long time.

Just wanted to share that the Mrs had her final surgery back in Feb and is doing great. We appreciate all the support and kind words from you friends here. Thank you for the encouragement. :)

I think this thread needs a bump. It's a powerful thread. There have been many prayers in this thread for verious reasons. There have been tearful posts and those full of rejoicing. I know I have used this for support.

My wife and I will continue our prayers for Madden. That has been wonderful news the last few days.

Unfortunately I just read the post in the "On tap Saturdays" thread about your father Tony. (Luca917) Tony, I lost my mother last fall and my father a few years back. They were both very difficult times. I also understand that, at times these moments are merciful as you said. That was the case with my mom. Your father is in our prayers along with yourself and your family. I pray for peace for your father and comfort for your family.

Pulling for your father Tony and best wishes during a difficult time. My dad died over 10 years ago and I still miss him every day.

Tony, prayers going out for you, your father, your sons and the rest of your family. May God give you strength and comfort in these tough times.

My wife and I just returned home from a quick trip to the grocery store. Before going into the store a young man stopped us in the parking lot and explained he didn't have any money for diapers. His story seemed legitimate. My wife and I took him into the store and bought him some diapers. You could see the relief and he was very humbled. He mentioned in passing his need for gas but he didn't ask for help. After buying the diapers I got the impression he was legit and sincere. At that point I gave him some money for gas.

After he left the store my wife and I started shopping. A special needs little girl was in an isle with us. She was very loud but oh so cute. She smiled at us as we walked by. We said hi and continued shopping. Moments later the little girl ran down to us and touched my wife's arm and said hi again. She had a the biggest smile. I could see the tears in my wife's eyes. We were there to buy a few last minute items for our grandchildren that were coming out to the campground were we are staying. We are blessed ....

This was a very rewarding and humbling trip to the grocery store today.

Very cool of you, MajorD!

Many communities now have "diaper banks" much in the way of food banks. United Way is a leader in this area. I hope that young man can get hooked up with local community organizations on his path to financial security.

Dave, this is a wonderful post and reminds me of why it's so important to have faith. Faith in our fellow man, faith in our creator, faith in ourselves. Do good things for others and it will return to you in fold. Helping the young man without pitying him or patronizing, extending grace and courtesy to a young girl who often may be scorned; having the integrity and strength to do the right thing for others. During this crazed era of finger-pointing and blame-placing, turning to your community and being a source of positive support is more important than ever.
