So Andy speaks. Nice. I have posted the same lament many times with no response. I have emailed you with no response. I'm a pariah on this board, I get it but my point is valid. You are a talented artist that has stubbornly stuck to a business model that alienates all but your most hardcore supporters. There are 20 regular posters here, maybe. My guess is FB Friday is a sad parade of the same 20 that frequent this dead forum. I remember when we used to trade ideas on the forum like how to turn off pics so FB Friday would load faster and you had a shot at landing "The One". The old dudes would give the young guns tips and tricks on landing anything, we didn't care what. You are the OG and have apprenticed many in your shop and indirectly through your vision and craftmanship. Your DNA is in every quality fixed blade made in the US today. The kids that came through your shop are your legacy and the backbone of American fixed blade craftsmanship. None of that happens without a fanatical core of fans that understands and appreciates your vision. Hate all you want but I don't see why you can't come up with a way to reward a loyal customer weekly or monthly with a knife made by the master built the way they want it. It is frustrating that I'm the d-bag here for suggesting you take your earned place as GF of American steel fixed blades then dedicate your time to mentoring and occasionally filling requests for your long-time loyal supports.

I know it has been a tough couple of years, it has been for everyone. Don't die on your sword for 20 dudes in dad jeans. Keep blazing the trail but throw your core a bone from time to time.
Man there is so much truth to this post. I left this forum like 7 years ago because it was the same BS over and over. Could never get a knife on FBF because some dude with a fast internet connection needed that 37th Runt for his collection. And then when you politely asked the other dude that regularly posted pictures of ± a dozen of the same model in their collection if they would consider letting you have the FBF knife you missed by 10 seconds, they tell you to pound sand.

Lol but here I am, back again, in the BST thread because it's the only way to buy a knife. A pretty silly sales model.

Edit: I managed to pick up a 5 inch Fiddleback to replace this knife. It is no longer for trade but will be listed for sale when I come up with a fair price.

Circa 2014/15 Leuku. Although the color combination is quite rare, it just doesn't fit in my collection and I doubt I'll ever find something to match.

Cornflower blue with natural liners and white pinstripes. Tapered tang, 5/32, and I'm guessing A2?

It's only been used in the kitchen to force a patina, and maybe one or two occasions doing light tasks like making feather sticks. Never been sharpened. I personally love patinas because it gives the steel "soul" (beyond Andy's brilliant method of spalting) but it's easily removed if you want a clean and shiny blade.

I like natural colored micarta and light colored figured woods like maple and birch, or osage. Tapered tang is a must.

Let me know if you have something you want to trade.

Cheers

That is a sweet leuku! And with a Tapered Tang. Which you should try to show in your images. I’m thinking based on the year and that nice patina it’s 01, but of course I may be incorrect. Good luck with a trade!

Up for sale is an "Ugly Betty" user. I mean that because it is not pristine and perfect. First off when it came to me the previous owner had used the spine as a striker with flint. I cleaned up the spine with a scotch bright belt on my 2x72 belt grinder. It worked like a charm but also almost completely removed the makers mark. At the right angle it can still be seen but wanted to be up front about that. I have also sharpened and used the knife quite a bit. It is still in great shape as you can see from the pics. The second blemish with this knife is that there is dried epoxy in the lanyard hole. I am guessing it somehow did not get cleaned out during the original manufacturing process. Ok that's the bad. The good, the handle ergonomics are spot on, it is sharp and ready for use. The A2 steel holds a good edge and has been plenty tough for me. It is a great knife but has not seen use in recent years so I am passing it on.

Blade Steel - A2
Grind - Convex
Handles - Natural micarta with white and natural micarta liners
Sheath - Leather

Price $250 shipped. Payment via PayPal.

SOLD

Fiddleback Forge Ladyfinger in 5/32 A2 with the tuxedo handle configuration (black linen micarta, natural liner, white spacer, natural pins). Has been used, and has blade scuffs and patina from use. Has particularly dark spalting compared to other FF knives I've owned. Still very sharp, only ever stropped, never sharpened. Comes with a veg tan leather pocket sheath (no belt loops) that I made.
