Fiddleback Friday 10/19/12

Grafton, there's plenty of burlap and black and nat can in there. It might not be wood but its not tootie fruity. Don't buy one then.

Hogwash. Variety is the spice of life, Grafton.

I'm down with the handle selection. Want that Karda real bad...

Beautiful batch! and lucky accident with that F2, looks like an awesome little fish and fowl knife!

I have actually reconsidered my request from earlier today. Maybe a 1/8 scandi Arete with a beefy handle is the way to go. I believe that a 5/32 only adds to a bigger bevel surface area that needs to be grind away when sharpening (not that Andy's knives ever really need sharpening!) but yet 1/8 is sturdy enough in a scandi knife.

Great batch, Andy. You are still making the best looking knives out there.

The HB with neon green stripe is great. If I didn't just get a HB, I'd might be tempted to buy it.

I really like the look of the F2. That in S5VN would just be about perfect for fishing.

I've never seen Andy do a scandi on 5/32 so I didn't realize he did that. I'v gotten a couple of his 1/8 scandies, a KE Bushie & a Hiking Buddy, and I love the way they handle.

I was thinking there might be an S35VN version of that coming in the future as soon as I saw the new design.

I agree and disagree - 1/8" is good enough for most grind types. I have a few saber-flat ground knives in 1/8" O1 steel and they outperform everything else I own. There go my illusions.

Andy, I suspect you have posted incorrectly about the tapered tang Recluse. You say it has "Natural canvas over black with a white liner" but I'm suspecting it has natural canvas over blue and maroon. Again, just sayin...

I think you are right "mistwalker", I have not seen a 5/32 either actually!
"CapitalizedLiving", I agree, 1/8 is the way to go for the most part ...

I'll take the

2012 1019 008 – Terassaur, Maroon linen over natural canvas micarta with a white pinstripe, convex on 5/32” 01 - $250

if still available.

Man I want that tapered Recluse or the remaining Terrasaur. It's killing me. Just spent way too much money though. Ugh.

OK guys. I apologize fot the delay in maintainance on this thread. We went shooting yesterday afternoon, and then I took my lovely wife on a date nite. We're back in business now.

I will take the 2012 1019 006 – EDC, White linen over natural canvas micarta with a blue pinstripe, convex on 1/8” 01 - $225

Thanks
Mark

You got it Mark. Thanks. This knife is a stunner IMO. The grind is so nice and slicey. Woot.

I will take 2012 1019 003 – 2012 1019 001 – 3 Finger Karda, Maroon linen over nat can with a white pinstripe, Scandi on 1/8” 01 - $175 shipped

You got it Critizen. Thank you!

Have I gone mad or is there no Bushfinger in this batch?! :D

That F2 is wicked!

No Bushfingers or Kepharts. Oddball huh?

Andy, I'll take the 2012 1019 010-hunter, maroon linen over natural canvas micarta with white pinstripe, convex on 5/32'' 01-$300

Thank You WE!!!

Nice batch again!
Is there hope for an "extra beefy handle" 5/32 Arete in scandi in the future Andy?

Awestib, do I have an open order from you for this. My mind is leaving the game lately. I've had 20 or more refund knives and their replacements going out within a month, and I'm loosing track of who has what coming. Gimme a e-mail and make sure I'm on the right track.

I'll take the F2 please! Just in time for pheasant season out here too!

2012 1019 002 – F2, Blue G-10 over natural canvas with a white pinstripe, Convex on 1/8” 01 - $225

Cool. A Purchase and an intended use in the same post! I love that! Thanks IB.

Ok, every party has a pooper,

All in good fun but Dude, order some wood....:D double mint, fruity tootie, bubble gum Barbie bushcraft buddy, hello kitty cutters....Not that there is anything wrong with that.

A couple of those need cocktail umbrelas sticking out of the bullseye tube.

Too fem for this redneck. Long live osage and walnut!

Make some sawdust please......

If a good friend shows up to go fishing with you wearing a shirt with bunnies and rainbows on it you slap him once and shake it out of him. He will usually thank you for your kind yet blunt honesty.

I hope you can appreciate what I am saying.

Great batch otherwise! ;)

The new one reminds me of a cross between the Hiking Buddy and Bourbon Street Skinner.

Yea the only wooden handled one in this batch sold before they hit the net. Sorry about that!

I don't do Scandi on anything thicker than 1/8". I did it a couple of times in the beginning, and then dropped it.

Ill take the hiking buddy 003. If it's still available. Thanks.

Thanks RMDmooch!

Nope. The tapered tang knife is nat over black with a white pinstripe. I agree on thickness though. If you use your knife for cutting, it is generally thick enough.

Ill take 2012 1019 007 Bushcrafter, Emerald burlap, if still available.
- Kevin

Thanks Melahn52. Its yours.

Very nice idea gentleman. I hope it works out for all parties involved.

Sorry Schmittie, and everyone. This was a miscommunication. Ron wasn't here when orders almost sank Fiddleback Forge. He wasn't aware of how the quest for 'the one' knife can completely disrupt a knife business. He didn't see me spend 6 or more extra hours per knife in communication with order takers, and managing order lists. He didn't see the orderer stop buying knives because his 'holy grail' knife is on the way.

I won't be taking orders. This comes from wisdom earned by surviving in this business.

Ron's role in my business is ever expanding. He is doing a wonderful job at FF. As I get him trained and skilled at the tasks I want him to handle, we will be making more knives, the knives will get better and better, and the production line will become a reality. I'm very happy to have Ron aboard.

Thanks for understanding.
