Fiddleback Friday - 2/15/13

Usually Andy will mark the knives that are sold. He hasn't done that this time because I believe he is getting ready for a show. So, just peruse the thread and figure out which are still available. Then, when you have found your favorite, post on this thread that you will "take it". Make sure you follow up with an email and get a payment in very soon. His paypal address is listed at the beginning of the thread.

Cheers, Blaid...I appreciate the fast response.

Then I will pull the trigger and call dibs on:

2013 0215 05 – Ladyfinger, OD over natural canvas with a white pinstripe, Convex on 5/32” thick 01 steel - $225

I don't think I saw anyone else request it. I'll shoot an email off to Andy shorty. Thanks!!

Well, the first step is to check out the posts and see which ones haven't been claimed and then pick the one you want. Then copy and paste the number and description of the knife (located right below the photo or series of photos of the knife or group of a particular model) The description will start with a series of numbers that are the date and the knife's number place in the batch, the model of the knife, handle material and color, grind, steel, and thickness.

Usually the sold ones would have already been marked by now, but with this weekend being what it was, Mrs. may have kidnapped Mr. Roy for a while... :)

I appreciate the response, Mistwalker. Blaid above beat you shortly and I opted to ask for the ladyfinger. I sent an email to 'Fiddleback' also.

Cheers

Sorry it took so long to get to the managerial work here guys. I attended a Georgia Knifemakers Guild meeting this weekend down in Statesboro GA, which is a 4 hour drive from here. This is my favorite meeting of the year, at the Twin Blades shop. Those guys are masters, and I always learn a lot from them. I'm lucky to be a member of the Ga Guild. It has helped a lot of makers here in GA improve, and I learn something big at every meeting. After talking to the twins this weekend, I am going to change a small grinding step to earlier in the process. That seems like a small thing, but it isn't. I'm honored to be a part of that group of men.

I'll take this one

I don't have any more in stock, much less blades cut and ready to make soon. Probably be around Blade Show before you see more. I really don't like working SS.

I will take the 2013 0215 10 – Hunter, Cofeebag Burlap micarta with black canvas liners and bolsters, Convex on 5/32” thick 01 steel - $300 if it is still available. Thanks , Guido

You got it Guido. Thanks!

Andy, did you get that coffee bag burlap from Luke? I think that stuff is wicked cool!

I don't know Luke. All my burlap micarta comes from FOD. He uses a top of the line epoxy and it makes a big difference.

Nice Batch Andy!
I'm pretty sure its from me. . .

Thanks bro. It is yours for sure.

I'll take the:

Great Phillip. Thanks!

Greetings!

This is my first fiddleback friday. If one wanted to claim one of the knives...what's the next step? I see some have posted here. Is that to let other's know? If you post here that you want to buy one, are you contacted by Andy or someone at Fiddleback??? or do we have to send a message to Andy as well as posting here? Sorry if I missed an instruction post...thanks for your time!

Man that thing is nice. I am really digging the natural G10 now, so I'm looking forward to someone's pics of the white linen or ivory paper over time to see how it ages. I really like the look of aged bone and ivory, but prefer the durability of the synthetics.

Mist, I agree. I have one of Andy's Kardas in Ivory micarta and it looks fantastic in the flesh. I haven't had it long enough to comment on how well it ages. Some of my other micarta scales have aged beautifully over time and I love that about micarta. We'll see.

I have an ivory paper handle from Dylan that I've used a few years. It pocket wears and the color softens a bit, but not much. Still pretty to look at. Rotte, that knife is a really good looking piece. Making a Recluse similar this week. With bolsters though.

Is there a difference between ivory paper micarta and white linen micarta?

Thanks.

Ivory paper micarta is made from paper and resin and is an off white color. White linen micarta is closer to bone white and is made from layers of linen and resin.

Andy,

If it's still available, I'll take the:

2013 0215 03 – Sneaky Pete, Black on black canvas with a blue pinstripe, Tapered tang, Convex on 0.150” thick CPM 154 Steel - $325

Let me know you've still got it and I'll send paypal.

You got it my friend!!!!!
