Fiddleback Friday More Stellar Maple

Haha RyanS get used to it! If it's not this Bushfinger it'll be another one. Andy will get you one way or another! It's a good thing though...trust us...JOIN US...hahahaha :p

That is a REALLY gorgeous blade though right? I wouldn't blame you at all if you scooped that while I sit on my hands and hum and haw. That's the dangerous game we play!

Oh, I've joined....a bushcrafter in the hand and a hiking buddy on the way. That's why I need you to buy the bushfinger. My wife would be sooooo PO'd with me if I another knife right now.

Hello Andy,

I'll take the Bushfinger, Bloodwood over black.

Thanks,

Matt

I also dislike stabalized wood, I've just never seen bloodwood used for knife scales before so I wasn't sure how well it would hold up. I mean, I assume you wouldn't use it unless it was hardy enough to handle the task at hand, but I'm always over-cautious. Call it a character flaw if you will.

Give me a few minutes to think about it...I'm weighing the size issue and really trying to predict the outcome here. I know if the knife were for me, it would be mine already. I'm thinking that my wife CAN handle the Bushfinger...as you've suggested...but she might be a little less intimidated by, and therefore get more use out of, something smaller. If someone hasn't scooped this beauty in a little while I may just say those fateful words...

Hahaha and just like that she's gone. It really was too pretty to last long. Enjoy your new blade paramecium ;)

RyanS I realized that I thought I was responding to someone else the first time around, so I amended my statement. I hear you though...it's so hard to not buy one every week and I think if it weren't for the wifey pinching my pennies for me I'd be up to the neck in Fiddleback goods already!

I really like the bloodwood on my hunter!

Yup, that is one of my most coveted Fiddlebacks to date Erich. Seriously I LOVE that handle configuration...it is so understated and classy. The Curly Cue is just the icing on the cake. I hadn't realized it was Bloodwood however...I didn't think I'd seen Bloodwood on a Fiddleback before! Oh well, now I know :)

pveiled,

Sorry for your loss:(

I was going to jump on the bloodwood Bushfinger, but didn't have the guts to come between a man, a knife, and his wife.

Just an FYI. I own two Laconico fixed blades with bloodwood scales. The wood is beautiful and seems quite robust. I'm told it is one of the few red colored woods that does not significantly darken with age and use. It keeps that bright red color.

Next time, just "go for it".

Cheers, TR

Just to chime in....oh, and by the way, nice set of knives Andy.
If anyone is on the fence about the EDK! It is one nice blade. Received mine last week, and it is a mean little sucker. Has lots of uses. I've been eying the bushcraft Kara for some time, but didn't know if the length of the handle was suited for me. So, wouldn't you guess, Andy took my advice and crafted the design just for me........umm, ok so maybe not. JK!

BTW, I have a HB in Bloodwood. The color is amazing. Like Crimson. Nice grab Paramecium.

Haha thanks for the condolences, but that's just the way this game is played. It's kind of like roulette...with knives. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but it's always a good show! Besides, I'm sure paramecium will enjoy the heck out of that beautiful blade and as long as Andy's knives go to a happy home, and see some use in their lifetime, then I'm a happy guy too.

Thanks for the info on Bloodwood though guys it sounds as awesome as it looks. Next time I will have no hesitations!

Also, just to be safe, I would like to call seconds on the Bloodwood Bushfinger (without sheath) if the original bid falls through. Thanks!

Cool! I'm glad you want it. I have another one next week for ole Maw.

Wahoo...thank you Andy! Today's Arete was a real looker indeed and I bet it will handle fantastically! You're a craftsman Andy...a real craftsman! Good for awestib!

Hey all! The Bloodwood BF was a hot knife in this batch (congrats paramecium, who swooped in and grabbed it), but are you all not seeing that HUNTER?!? I got one from the 7/27 batch and it is killer! The Maple really is "gem-like" as Andy says. Also, the Hunter is a great configuration. I love the size, fit, handle, everything.

Also, pveiled, I got my wife one of the maroon linen Bushfingers and not only can she handle it, but she loves it. I don't think it is "too much" for a lady, imo. Next Friday is only a week away!

Oh sure, rub the wound while it's still sore! ;) :p Seriously though, the only reason I'm apprehensive is that she's held and used my Bushfinger and she said it felt a little too big/heavy for her. I'm sure that you are all right however and that if she had HER OWN Bushfinger and spent some time getting to know it, it would do the job admirably enough. I am beating myself up for being too slow on that gem of a knife, but as it stands I suppose it just wasn't meant to be. You are correct though...next Friday is only a week away :) Is it too early to say I can't wait?

Guys, saucyCT is right...where is the love for the rest of this batch? The Hunters are both awesome, in their own way, IMO and all of the Bushfingers are super sleek. If I didn't already have one of those knives the Black Burlap on Black would be MIGHTY tempting for me...it IS still tempting me, to be honest...even though I know I absolutely can't do it! I think I'm starting to feel some sympathy for ErichM...why are the Bushfingers ALWAYS SO TEMPTING??? I really like the EDKarda and the Bushboot in this batch as well. I hope they find their owners soon!

Hello Andy,

I'll take the Bushfinger, Bloodwood over black.

Thanks,

Matt

You got it Matt. Thank You!!!

I really like the bloodwood on my hunter!

For some reason I thought that was a BF. Boy would it ever be sweet to have a CF Bolstered Curley Cued Bloodwood BF to match that Hunter....

Maybe with a little swedge action.

Very nice batch, Andy.

Any burlap bushboots coming down the line?

I like when folks ask for Bushboots. Maybe so. Maybe so.

Oh, I see the hunters, but the one that has me bothered is the canvas micarta. I've been going around and around trying to justify it.

Beautiful work! I'm looking forward to seeing the scandi Recluse. And that maple you have is really SHARP!

Is it ok to ask if more Recluses are coming down the pike?

Here! Here! All of these knives are lovely. And they back their good looks with real tenacity. These knives can cut! I'm partial to the Arete, the black burlap on black Bushfinger, and the EDKarda wearing maroon linen over natural canvas. It's all over but the crying. :)

yep, in between fondling my own Hunter (just got it last week and can't stop—will I go blind? hee hee) I keep looking at this batch and ANY of those little guys would be a prize. If I bought a knife today it would spell for certain trouble around the house, SO, Andy (drumroll), I will be sending you loot for a 16" machete. Thanks!

Andy, I'm itching for another one, just can't swing it just yet.
