Fiddleback Friday!!! Tapered Tangs and Convex Daggergrinds!!! 11/2/12

Most people don't know how difficult it is to do a full dagger grind to keep all four planes and lines in the right places. You done good my friend!!

From a sellers standpoint, it's best to leave that top edge not sharpened. Even a sharp top clip can cause legal problems these days. Let a buyer make the choice post sale.

I figured as much. Can't put it back on. Plus, this makes for a much more practical useable tool. Thanks Rick.

That's a good choice I have a couple in that scale config and they sure are pretty, in fact if you change your mind I will take seconds on this one. Work got busy earlier and I was late to check out this batch.

I would like to request a bushcrafter and/or an arete and/or a hunter in the same scale and tang config as this BF for some future batch, pretty please.

Mark

Noted. I tapered Bushfingers and Kepharts and an Arete for next week. I'm getting better at it. I'll do more white. It happens to be a favorite of mine also.

What's the size difference between a Kephart and a Bushfinger?

Sorry for the question. I am interested in making my first Fiddleback purchase.

No problem at all. Ask away. There is exactly zero length difference between the two models. 4" blade and 4.5" handle. Actually you will find that a LOT of my models are exactly this size. I think this is the minimum length for a full size knife. (I also don't see a reason to increase it either. Its my go to size.) The Ladyfinger, Bushcrafter, Bushfinger, and Kephart are all 4" bladed knives. The Terassaur, Arete, KE Bushie are close to that size also.

Nice work Andy! The dag is sweet and I am glad to see so many tapered tangs...I know how much harder it is to make.

I hate to admit it, but they do feel nicer in the hand.

jtoler_9,
Both are approx. 8"OAL with 4"blades; shape is a bit different. Welcome to the Fiddleback forum! You'll find Fiddleback Forge knives to be absolutely outstanding!!!

Biting my lip over that osage Bushfinger, but just can't do it...someone please give that beauty a good home.

Pretty work once again!

I am having the same problem grafton. I think a Bushfinger is in my near future, but I think I would prefer a burlap or darker wood variety. But that Orange is mocking me.

Hi jtoler_9,

Welcome aboard.

Andy has answered your question in that both the Kephart and the Bushfinger have a 4.0 inch blade and 4.5 inch handle. You can go to my thread to see side-by-side photos of them if you wish.

Take care.

Thanks Mark! I already love it. I was wanting bloodwood scales on one and was wanting a Kephart, so had to pull the trigger. Perhaps I will do a photo shoot like everyone else with my 1911 and kephart looking all pretty...

I am shocked that all the Kepharts were still available today too.

Congrats on your sale of your Safe Queens. I am sure they all found good homes. Go Fiddleback frenzy!
