As catalystman80 said, the heel is obtuse due to the transition from the ricasso (the plunge line). If you try to make the bevel there equal to the bevel along the rest of the edge, you will end up hollowing that area of the blade and essentially making a recurve.

Knife and edge are beautiful!

Did a Camp Knife passaround over on the ESEE forum. Whitty was kind enough to allow a production Camp Knife to be passed about. I compared it to my custom. Here's a few pix.

Behind the scenes of the Model Comparison thread. The toughest part is figuring out what order to put them in:

Decided to take down my xmas tree with my Monarch yesterday. I live in an apartment so rather than dragging that thing through the building i thought i keep the mess contained in my living room and put it into some trash bags for transportation. The shorter handle on the Monarch makes it a little difficult to work through bigger branches. I found myself holding it often between thumb and index finger to get some acceleration behind the blade and do the chopping. It worked pretty well though....

Neighbors brought over homemade pierogi last night. Had some for lunch today for impromptu scandal-man photoshoot. So incredibly sharp just the weight almost push cuts through the dough, mash potatoes and dough without compressing the pierogi. Amazing.
