Wildertools and Fiddleback today. Helped me break down 2 aged whitetail does out of my walk in cooler. The Runt is the oldest in my knife collection and though it didn't do any deer work it was by my side all day.

In another thread, I recently commented on how much I enjoy my Esquire. Such a handy little blade and just the right size for me to take on most tasks.
I reach for a blade almost every day while working as a remodeling contractor. Whether it be a utility knife, razor, folder or fixed blade, I like to keep thing simple. I've mentioned in the past that I tend to be a minimalist in nature and don't like things cluttered around me, so I was happy to have acquired the Esquire as it has filled the roll of my go-to blade for most tasks. Yet, on an occasion or two I felt myself cringing as I pushed the little Esquire to its limits and hated the thought of ruining a somewhat pricey little blade.

Enter the Shaaaaman!
As you all know the Shaman was introduced by Andy recently as part of a 3 knife set. The Pygmy, Shaman and Chief. For my needs, the Pygmy seemed a wee bit small and the Chief too big. Ah, the middle ground, a Shaman. As soon as I saw the new designs, I knew the Shaman was going to be my next Fiddleback. Could this be the cure to mostly all of my utility needs around work sites? Well, I just had to see. So, on the very next Friday I was able to acquire this little dude-

My super groovy Shaman in Boogie Nights Burlap next to my favorite little workhorse:

For a couple of weeks I carried the Shaman to job sites switching between it and the Esquire. Using each for similar tasks and taking mental notes of their performance.
Unfortunately for my wallet, here is the outcome of this study:

I realized that I had become so fond of the shape and ability of this profile that I had to have another. One for my workbench at home and one for work.
After reading trough one of Phillip's "Behind the Scenes" threads, it had come to my attention that Andy was kind enough to let one of his "duds" go that he had been carrying for a couple of weeks. The handle had a slight blowout around the bullseye lanyard tube, however this didn't concern me and I was pleasantly surprised as to how nice the handle was when it arrived in the mail.

Now, just to let you know, I STILL carry my Esquire a lot. Although the Shaman is a great utility blade, I don't see it riding in my front pocket as does the Esquire. I've been using an old Bushfinger belt sheath for the Shaman and even when I acquire the correct ISP sheath, I think it will be uncomfortable in a front pocket given my frame size. Hopefully it will ride comfortably in my back pocket.
Also, lets be honest. The Shaman is not nearly as sexy as the Esquire ;)

um..no but we could work something out:D

This has the wheels churning....

Very nice Sergio. I recently purchased a Shaman for much the same purpose(s). I am now waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
Beautiful Esquire as well!

Nice! I really think you're going to enjoy it. Finding the right sheath is likely the key to the whole experience with such a frequently used blade.
Post some pics when you get it!

I can't remember... didn't you purchase that bottom esquire from me? Possibly close to duplicate knives if not. Great post and nice knives!

oh
sergio

that Esquire does not look like you are afraid to use it.

looks good

Yeah, the other day I was prying heavy duty construction staples out of some old knotty pine. I sometimes have to remind myself that 01 is much stronger than a utility blade and stop worrying about it.
