It has been a good month fellas, I am beyond impressed with the quality, ingenuity, creativity, and ergonomics of these works of art. The spalting reminds me of the medium I use in my own art practice. Non-toxic salt etching into zinc plates, so I thought it made a good background to lay these out on. I may be willing to trade one of these handymans soon for a hiking buddy if anyone is interested. Thanks Nathan for the amazing Toboggan- sick edge on that thing!! overview.jpg overview_2.jpg monarch_2.jpg overview_3.jpg monarch.jpg

Awesome collection! Wouldn't mind seeing more of your art either, looks pretty cool!

My favorite is the brown/orange/nat Handyman, that's a great combo.

Thanks, I have been playing with etched logos recently, the plate in the photo is my most recent- this is my partner and I's logo for our juice bar. the zinc plates are expensive bc I like to work in medium size or large, I am dying to see fiddlebacks logo etched in the plate in the style I use. My method is an old printmakers etching technique called a sugar lift. its creates a spontaneous texture as it lifts through the hard ground that is sealed over it, once agitated in hot water. Then I drop it in the salt etch, which works with some light steels and aluminum apparently (although I have never tried) but it eats through zinc like no other. The copper particles literally float out of from the plate in seconds. very alchemical process!
