Picked some oysters this afternoon!

Well, I thought I’d scavenge around the yard to see if I could find the components to make a friction fire. With a couple C Cohutta knives and my Fiddleback machete in tow I found an old cedar shake, a piece of plastic rope (that I later traded out for paracord) and a few various sticks of wood. I thought this would be fairly easy. An hour later I tossed it all in the fire pit. Would someone please tell me where I went wrong? I had plenty of smoke and fine black dust but nothing close to an ember.

It looks like you were on the right track, but perhaps Izzy could have shown up wearing her Bushboot to save the day! ;)
