So I left early this morning to head to Atlanta. I had a 1:00 meeting and then was going to head over to Fiddleback. Leaving from the center of the great state of North Carolina, the trip time was about 4 hours. I even left an extra hour early to be on the safe side. I made it 60 miles down the Interstate before getting dead stopped in traffic. 2 hours later I had made it one damn mile to the nearest exit, where I turned around and came home. I promptly called and cancelled my appointment and then called Andy to let him know there was no way I was making it. Total trip time was 4 hours, miles driven was 120, destination was not reached! To say I was bummed out would be an understatement!

To make up for my crappy trip I figure we could make some other Fiddleback Fans day!

Hey Whitty at least you are home safe!

We came to a deadstop on I-275 in Florida when a helicopter landed on the road. There must have been a technical problem with the copter during a rescue, because another one landed and they unloaded patients off of one and one to the next. Took a good hour at least before all was said and done. It is a dangerous road even when not used as a landing strip. I - 275 to I-4 almost requires stunt driving to make it out alive.

well the A8 from Karlsruhe to Stuttgart was and still is rather notorious for traffic jams, especially as they have been working on renewing it in various places over the last 5 years.
I think the longest i have been stuck in there while really staying in one spot without any movement at all was 2 hours when some idiot caused a crash in construction area where they had already reduced the lanes from 3 to 2 and only 60km/h. this was only the time stuck. took a bit more than another hour to finally clear that part. so this made a 7hour trip out of a travel that would usually only have taken 4 hours.

for me this would be international shipping, which i would be more than happy to happy to pay as i have been eyeing a fiddleback knife for quite some time already...

4 hours due to an accident last winter. State Patrol shut the entire expressway down and landed a helicopter on the pavement.

9 hrs on I 10 eb over the atchafalaya basin. Truck lost its tank carrying lye about 1.5 miles ahead of me. Hazmat funtime. Nowhere to go, no way to turn around.

Longest I've been at a dead stop in traffic was for about 10 minutes, outside SF.

I avoid big cities. lol
Thanks for the GAW.

3.5 hours outside of Portland. I was 18 at the time, driving my girlfriend's dad's truck, and pulling his very nice boat and got stuck in the evening traffic. I believe that is the most carefully I have ever driven a vehicle in my life.

Thanks!

Robert

About 3.5/4 hours. Vancouver BC Canada. Terrible streets in that city.

Ironically, this was in downtown Atlanta. I was passing through on my way to the mid-west. Let's just say I'll never make that mistake again.
Also, this past June during Bladeshow, I became so frustrated with the extreme lack of courtesy by drivers in Atlanta. Talk about road rage.

About 4 hours, dead stopped on I-75 between Macon and Atlanta.

1 hour - middle of the night W of Wickenburg on the way home. Cause was a double fatality accident. Delay would have been the rest of the night, but we turned around and drove 60 miles around another way.

2.5 hours on I-43 heading to a wedding in Milwaukee from Chicago. Needless to say we didn't make it on time.

Thank You Whitty!

I've been fortunate with traffic issues. I have been stuck on U.S. 23 here in Michigan due to accidents shutting down the freeway but nothing too extreme. The worst driving issue for me has been trying to come back down from the Michigan Upper Peninsula after hunt trips. They closed the Mackinaw Bridge on me twice. Once due to a blizzard and the other time for high winds. This is a 5 mile bridge and crossing in those conditions, once re-opened is white knuckling for sure!

During February of 2015 we took a trip from Delaware to Towson, Md. The trip down took about 55 minutes, but a big HEAVY snowstorm moved in while we were there and halted traffic on I695 and I95. Took 6 hours to get home.

I live in NYC, I have been in more traffic jams than I can count. On average it takes me 45 minutes to commute 7 miles to work...There have been instances where it as taken me 1 1/2 hours to do the same run..

Snow in Wisconsin...
It took me 2.5 hours to travel 10 miles during a snowstorm a couple years ago. It was after work on my way home and there was no other passable road I could take home. My total trip was about 4 hours to travel 52 miles. That was just the worst after a 9.5 hour work day...
