Back in Port Huron Michigan years ago I sat in traffic to cross the Blue Water bridge into Sarnia for..I dont remember how many hours due to a truckers strike. People were out in the street sitting in lawn chars and smoking cigars!!

edit: I would like to also say thank you for the Giveaway! Super nice

Not the longest traffic I have ever been in so I hope this counts, but the most recent and the highest anxiety I have ever had while in traffic. A little over a month ago my wife and I were headed to the hospital for a scheduled C-Section for our first baby. Before we left she began having contractions... 30 minutes down the road on I-35 south of San Antonio we ended up hitting 3 different wrecks which probably added an hour and a half to our trip. By the time we got to the hospital it was "go time". Just a little nerve wracking.

About 6 hours. It was somewhere in Austria but I can't remember where. People were actually have picnics on the hoods of cars and the side of the road.

Thanks for the GAW Whitty and be sure to reach out the next time you plan your trip to ATL.

The year was 1999 and Y2K was upon us. Myself and a few friends went to see Phish at the Big Cypress Indian reservation in S Florida for a 4 day extravaganza that was to be the end of the world and their last shows as a band for the foreseeable future. We rolled along and did the drive down in two days with an awesome camp stop on the Crystal River. the last 10 miles took almost 11 HOURS! the reservation had not opened its gates and close to 100,000 people were parked on I-10 waiting for them to open. We ended up pushing my jeep for about 7 of the remaining miles. Fortunately, there was enough cold beer and party favors among the festival goers to keep us in an "enlightened" state in the gridlock.

Commuting in, out and around NYC ends up in plenty of these delays. I've spent my fair share of hours sitting on a train, bus, subway, taxi, car service, and my car, but the subway was probably the worst. I remember being stuck in a tunnel in the middle of the night, with no AC, after a long night out with friends being told by the conductor for over 2 hours that there are track signal problems and we can not move until its fixed.

I've traveled well over a million miles . . . Some of my worst waiting ever has been trying to go through 95 corridor in New York City. It is horrible!!! Doesn't matter the time of day.

But the worst was down in Bolivia. We started what is normally a 13-14 hour road trip from one city to another (about 300 miles total distance). It had started raining the night before and was still raining in the morning when we hit the road. I drove 2 1/2 hours and we ran into a huge line of traffic. I wound my way to the front and found that there had been a massive landslide and there was no road! The landslide was still active and huge boulders were in the mix. People were saying it would take at least a couple to few days to clear things out and get a temporary passage back up and running. We turned around and drove an hour back to where another road was that could get us to our city. We ran into other landslides, vehicles stuck up to their bumpers, etc. what should have been a 13-14 hour trip turned into a 26 1/2 hour trip!!! It was awful!!

Thanks for the generous GAW. I am sorry that your trip did not work out.

The worst for me was when I was in grad school in 2001 and I was on my way from Winston Salem to Spartanburg for an interview. I left at 7AM with plenty of time to spare for to arrive early for my 10:30AM interview, but traffic came to a complete stop a few miles out of WS. There was no way to turn around and no way to get off the interstate, so I waited... and waited. In the interim, I called the person with which I was scheduled to interview and let her know my situation. She said that her schedule was open for the rest of the day, and for me to keep her updated and get there when I could. Traffic finally started moving around noon, but there was another massive traffic jam on I85 just out of Charlotte. I ended up arriving at for my interview at 4PM. The trip that should have taken 2.5 hours took 9 hours.

The person I was interviewing with was totally cool about the whole thing. After talking with her for an hour or so she called some of her other employees and we all went for drinks and dinner. I got home after midnight, totally exhausted. I actually got an offer from the company, but ended up taking another job in Charlotte.

I think the worst traffic jam I have been in recently was driving back to Florida from Baltimore last August on I-95, it must have taken us about 5 hours just to get out of Maryland!

Thanks for the chance in a Great GAW!

Super generous giveaway and thank you so much for the opportunity!

Longest for a traffic jam I was stuck in was about 4 hours heading into Baltimore, no clue what caused it.

Longest I've been stuck on a highway was a little over 12 hours. I was an EMT student and we responded to a single motor vehicle accident. As we pulled up we saw the people that had been in the car waving, when we got closer it became obvious they were trying to wave us away.
Turns out they were transporting nuclear contrast material for the hospital and, when they had crashed, the outer container had ruptured. Now this stuff was transported in a triple walled container, so we all figured we would be okay, but we still had to go through a long, nerve wracking wait in the quarantine area until we got cleared to leave.

So that time I just helped cause the jam, but I wasn't technically stuck in it.

About an hour. I work construction, I start and end work before the rest of y'all.

Thanks for the chance. Very generous.

Thanks for the giveaway and sorry about the fail.

Freak snowstorm in the middle of July a few years back while heading up I-70 to the Eisenhower tunnel. They closed the highway behind us after we started up the big, steep hill to the tunnel. Sat there for hours while they got jack knifed semis and stuck cars out of the way enough so we could weave our way through the chaos. Our friends that were blocked by the closure went into Silverthorne and stayed at a hotel and were swimming at the pool while we sat in our car in a blizzard.

Very generous giveaway.

I can't say that I have been stuck in traffic for any memorable amount of time. Nothing more than the typical jam. I have however been stuck on an airplane for 26.5 hours straight if that counts. That was not a fun time.

I guess I've been lucky compared to some of these stories.....2 hours I-75 in Michigan

Official entry. I was stuck between Colorado Springs and Monument,/CO for 6 hrs once and had diarrhea. Luckily I spotted a Porto potty for the construction crew and made a mad dash before anything terrible happened
