Fiddleback Visit Fail and Hiking Buddy giveaway!

Hey, that's my neck of the woods. I'm at the last exit before Canada. Any time that bridge gets backed up, the truckers lay on their horns and keep us up all night. With the new bridge plaza, that situation should be alleviated somewhat.

Back in 2002 when I lived in Los Angeles, my wife and I took the 2 little ones to Knott's Berry Farm. About 10 miles from home we got stuck in a torrential downpour which effectively shut down the 5 freeway. After about 4 hours I was essentially trapped in our car with 2 fussy little kids and a hungry and cranky pregnant wife. We were all about out of our minds with the kids screaming and my wife needing food, when I remembered a friend lived just off an upcoming exit. So, about 10:00 pm at night I called him and he begged us to come over to his home and wait it out. When we arrived there was a hot spaghetti dinner waiting for us. Thanks Harry! We'll never forget that night and your generosity.

About 1 hour on 696 while I was on my way to work. I was on my motorcycle and it was also a hot day so it was kind of brutal.

Thanks for the chance!

Official entry,

The first "white out blizzard" I was ever in, my family and I were stuck for about 3 hours. It doesn't snow a ton here in Arizona, so I want really experienced in it.

Our Canadian winters can get pretty hairy. About 10 years ago I was driving from Montreal to the Laurentian mountains for a weekend of winter camping. We hit some extremely severe weather and were stuck on a two lane mountain road for over a day. Luckily, we had our camping gear on us, so we pitched the tent, started a fire and brought some much needed warmth and food to our stranded friends in the other cars. We didn't have much, but boy, did that go a long way.

On our way to Maine last year out of the Washington DC area, once we hit the Capital Beltway, we got stuck for two hours before we got free and close to Baltimore. My daughter was driving, she did great, she was patient and a good driver.

Longest was in Los Angeles for a couple hours. But most interesting was when there was a knifewielding man on The I5 bridge in March. Entire bridge was closed for like an hour and a half!

Thanks for the shot!

I THOUGHT it was going to be a week ago - but when I managed to help move the wreck myself - I was underway in an hour.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Snow in N. California shut down the freeway. We and a lot of other travelers spent the night on the floor of a grade school cafeteria in Yreka.

Thanks Whitty

The worst I've encountered has been around Toronto.
One time took about 2 hours to go a mile.
I forget the total traffic jam time, but that stretch stuck in my mind.

Thanks for the giveaway. :)

Just about every Monday - Friday when I lived in DC. If I was not in the office, 15-20 mile trips to a job site could take 2-3 hours during rush hour. NY is not much better, but we're out in the burbs and can take the train

I can't exactly recall how many hours I've been stuck in tunnel traffic, but this one took the cake once I learned out why I was standing still. Two geese enter the tunnel and pandemonium ensues. The worst part about living in an area with five major tunnels and no bridges is that there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to the traffic delays and no real way to take an alternate route.
