I had the wonderfull oportunity recently to look at and handle a room full of knife making history. So many Fikes knives to fill the top of a coffee table! Including one knife he engraved "best knife made to date 80" on the tang.
What may have been Don Foggs first Japanese style knife(can't remeber that for sure) Lets just say a very early Fogg...or at least a handfull.:D
Hasting, Ruana, Moorseth, Hale, ...etc. The list just went on.
I was told I could bring a camera next time and take some pics.
I'm very sorry I don't have any to show you now...but it will be worth the wait till I get them.
Knife legend overload!

Mace the knife porn peddler. Good stuff. I really like the Fikes work, especially that tanto, and the Hastings is great. You are lucky. Did you get to coon finger them as Jerry would say?

Brion

Yes Brion....I had to wipe the drool off most of these when I was done!;)

Here are a few more.....
........Schmidt...Fikes....Hanson....Bob Hayes!
Mace

P.S. This Schmidt is supposed to be his first Japanese style......not Fogg like I thought before.

Man, nice pics Mace  You gotta love the text on the tang of the katana, "forged on a lucky day in Feb 1980", too cool. That stuff must be worth a small fortune. What a diverse group of knives eh ?

Some more for ya....
A couple of what I was told were collaboration knives between Don Fogg and Mirad Sayen(not sure of the spelling sorry if I butchered it)....and a couple more Schmidts.

Here are the last few pics I got. I have to say I'm sorry for the not so good pics. I worked with what I had at the time. Maybe in the future I can get some nice shots of these knives. A new computer is on the list this year along with a new camera. Hope you enjoyed this look at some fanastic knives.
I leave you with a couple of early Fogg knives and a Schmidt
Navaha(spelling?) called "Thumb Bane"...story goes...he got his thumb caught in the knife and had to put it in a vise to pull the locking ring to release his thumb. Ouch!

Fascinating. Those 2 Kemal blades (Kemal = Don Fogg + Murad Sayen) have the big battle axe logo. They only used it in their early work together. I have a damascus piece with it, those are the only two other pieces I've ever seen with it. You can see this logo on Don's site here:
http://dfoggknives.com/kemal.htm

Murad Sayen's site is here:

with his knife page here:

He still doesn amazing carving. I have a katana with fittings he made.

Thanks for sharing those pictures. This is an amazing collection. Where does it come from?

Joss,
Thank you for the info on the kemal knives...(and for the correct spelling of Murad;)) Very interesting...I like the concept of wanting to"wow" each other with thier work.

These knives are in a private collection whos owner was kind enough to let me take the pics , but asked to be left anonymous.
Just to let you know too...These knives are NOT for sale!
Thanks for looking!
Mace

Mace,

I didn't think they were. Please convey our thanks to the collector for sharing his collection to us.
