File work

I think it's ugly in most cases, and unless it's done masterfully, makes the finished product look like it was made in Pakistan.
 
I like it if it accentuates the piece, but don't like it if it overwhelms it. Too much ornamentation and ostentation is a bad thing, unless care is taken to include it for a reason. I don't know that I've ever seen a knife with filework on every spare surface that I liked.
