Filling Out Your Profile, and Reading Up Before Starting

Wait... So I have this old lawn mower blade and I just need Stacy to come over and give me a step by step on how to do it. I dont want to buy a knife already made, I just want to make it out of some scrap lawn mower blade and have the experts hold my hand so I dont mess up this fine piece of mystery metal. ;)

Ha, sorry I'm one of those noobs. I hope I dont ask too many repetitive/dumb questions. I do try to research before I ask, but I think I need to visit this place you call a library. Do they have them in all cities or just where your from?

I have come to the conclusion that the "same old silly questions" are just the nature of the beast and are not ever going to stop.

I just leave them alone because it seems you either can try to be really helpful to an unappreciative audience, or get frustrated and then come off like an elitist dick. Neither option is much fun.

IMHO- If a person isn't willing to make the effort to do some reading on their own, then they sure as hell aren't going to make the effort required to make even a DECENT knife.

It's akin to a person walking into a book-store, looking at a book on the shelf and saying out loud, "I wonder what's in that book?!?!?" without even making the effort to pick it up and glance through the pages.

I see a problem happen when "we" don't answer the newbies question. Some other Newbies will answer as if he knows what he is talking about.

I have my hackles up over a nob's idea that he can efficiently heat treat 1095 in a camp fire.

That post has me nearly ready to pull my hair out. Too many Rambo movies, I guess. Hopefully it has died.

Nope. Sorry to say I was just posting on that one:o I couldn't keep to my self.:( I tried but couldn't do it. I had to give it one more attempt at reason. I know it was probably in vane but I had to try.

Yes, but what is the best steel for knifes... I have noticed that many of my favorite fighting knifes are made out of CH1Na... does anyone have a Canadian source for lengths long enough to make a beheading sword? I am also in the market for condemned criminals to use as quenchant. Thoughts?
