Those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting Marty and Aggie Simon probably have heard of their free Rendezvous they host twice a year on their beautiful and large piece of property in upstate N.Y. Ever since I have heard of it I wanted to attend, and this year things finally worked out.

It was even better than I imagined. A place where you can sit back and enjoy nature with a few dozen like minded people. All of which were there to share their knowledge and learn from one another.

It was great to see allot of familiar faces as well as meet a dozen or more new ones. We shared allot of laughs through out the weekend and had an all around excellent time.

I could probably sit here all day and write about all the fun Siguy, Gravydan, and I had while up there, but I'll just post pics instead.

Big thanks to Marty and Aggie Simon for hosting it and creating an event where like minded folks have a place to get together and enjoy the outdoors!!

Most of the people opted to set up camp in the field to enjoy the spectacular starlit skies at night, but Gravydan, Siguy, and I took to the woods.

Siguys set up

Gravydans sleeping quarters

I took to the same spot I had when I took the 1 week Basic Survival Course here.

This is the 2nd time I had the pleasure to camp with Akabu. He is a wealth of knowledge and experience! Here he is showing Siguy, Gravydan, and I how he like to rigs his tarp with the prusik knot.

The WSS was represented

This is Garrick. He did an excellent tutorial on flint knapping. He worked all weekend with anyone who wanted to learn this craft. Outstanding presentation!

Here's some of his work.

As always Marty did his plant walk which everyone eagerly followed to learn a lil.

The kids had great insruction at the range from Kevin and LT Mike. The adults had fun shooting the airrifles as well!
That lil guy at the far end is crack shot!

Kevin and Bobby gave a great tutorial on bow drill as allways. After wards eberyone got a chance to make there own kits and attempt getting fire. A bunch, including an 8 year old girl were successful!

Here a video of Kev doing a lil bow drill demo.

We had a great time.. Tony and Simon are class acts- making the travel time that much more bearable...

Marty and Aggie are tremendously hospitable hosts- they open up their land and knowledge to all who are interested and ask for nothing in return. I can only wait to take the basic survival course, hopefully next year.

It was a great time, Im lucky to have met Tony and Simon, and hope to see some more of you, perhaps at WAR or the survival course...

Thanks for sharing Tony...I'm going to plan on taking my wife and son up to take the course next year. Looks like a blast and it's good to meet several of the WSS folk.

I'm glad.:)

After perusing all those pictures, I may have to develop my own version of the KESS.;)

Boy, wish I could have attended that one! Looks like a great time. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the report. Wish I could've been there, but today was my daughter's birthday and we did that at Marty's last year. So SWMBO gave me "the look" when I mentioned PEACE and I acquiesced.

Damn that looks sweet!

I really want to go to one....Looks like the perfect weekend.

Tony PM me your #, or give me a ring in the AM....

Man, I had a great time this weekend!

It is hard to ask for any better traveling companions than Tony and Paul. They even put up with my noxious fumes on the drive home...I was afraid they might make me walk the rest of the way.

The whole weekend was great, the weather was great, the people were great, all of the camaraderie and general generosity was great. Many thanks to Marty and Aggie for their hospitality! I look forward to future events.

i love the K.E.S.S. pic... kevin needs to start selling those....:D
