Finally / BK3 on order

Rescue tasks.
over here pretty much every rescue/security company used lightweight "Tactical Crowbars" like the BK4 for stuff like open any kind of doors or like in my case (accident inspector) to rip of truck plan and pry oben some dangerous goods Cargo to check if for example something has a leak.

next time i use the 3 i take some pics to show how well designed the 3 is.

I would be very interested in your photos and experiences with this knife.

I'm already talking about it, I just don't see it landing up in my summers bank statements.... Or any of my bank statements really, until I start buying knives just because I want them, not to fill a role.

I bought mine as a blank for $45.00 on the bay and has no serration cus I sharpened myself. I'm
Just saying let's bang on this b*tch and use it! I want to explore all the available options in Beckers and I'm not filling a Role! Let's party people!

I still fail to see how serrations help anything other than cutting rope, which can be done by sharpening the wire grabber at the end, heck, you might even be able to get a WSKTS in there. And yea, I still fail to see how the chisel grind helps, ok, maybe easier to pry with, but still, it's a chisel grind.

Also, fixed that for you:

Serrations can be effective in cutting. Like many as soon as I open a knife I give it the useless old shave hair off the arm test. My last serrated Spyderco took the skin/hide off instead. Hell of a cutter.

And just what do you use when it's your turn to demolish an Omni? LOL

Ever heard of the show "Junk Yard Wars"? That show stopped airing a while ago (I think), but they sure as hell could have used more than a few 3s there!

Helga.

Nice, tell us what you think when you get it. The only things I don't like about are: A) serrations, god those things are annoying.... and B) chisel grind! I hate chisel grinds! Almost as much as Tanner hates convex edges.

I would like to know what you think of it after you get it as well. Also, why do you not like chisel grinds? I didn't think I did though until I got a chance to mess around with my brother's Snody Boss.

Can do the pics. I see it as an excellent tool for that purpose. As I said we live, play and travel in the mountains in good weather and bad. If needed the $85.00 will soon be forgotten.

They're a pain to sharpen, and if your chopping, you can't really do V cuts very well. If I can get a blank and get it a regular saber grind (3 different edges of course) without serrations, then I'll be happy to buy the BK pry bar.

As I stated in my OP the 3 will reside in my truck waiting for an emergency, just a bigger emergrncy box. I have given absolutly no thought as to how I would test it. I am not a tester or reviewer but I will see if I can come up with something to contribute to that type thread.

Cool man , just throwing it out there. Enjoy that stout piece of metal.

I will let you know what Ithink of it.

I know the part about chisel grinds wasn't directed at me but here are my thoughts. I only have 1 other knife with a chisel grind, the Tops Taliban Takedown. The role of that knife is not to take down the Taliban but to be backup protection against pit bulls when I walk. I always have a gun on me but I carry the tough bladed Tops as backup. I have Leukemia (remission now) and a dog bit could be a real issue.

Ok, I understand the dog bite in general thing, but pit bulls aren't mean by nature, all of the ones I've met are extremely nice, even cuddly.

The 2 pit bulls and one large dog of unknown origin are the only one's of many to ever bluff a charge towards me on the road. It's not a general dislike of any particular breed. BTW, we are dog owners and dog lovers.

Have you ever handled one? They aren't hard at all to sharpen. Of course you cant use those keychain sharpeners on them. I use a "puck" on mine. And as far as chopping, it will chop anything you need chopped. Maybe not as well as a 9. But it damn sure will get the job done. In my opinion there is no reason at all to put a saber grind on it. It's not tha kind of knife. All knives are "tools", but the bk3 is more of a tool than a knife.

Well, all I have to sharpen anything right now is one of those key chain sharpeners.... WSKTS is next on my list, followed by a 5.11 MOAB 10, which is in turn followed by a set of FPR tweeners for my niece when she gets to high school, and then some more knives for me.

but have you handled the 3? its really a great knife that I actually owned before and traded it away before I realized a use for it....

I haven't had the chance to handle the 3, no place within 60 miles sells BK&T knives, new or used. The closest I can get is a mil surplus store that sells only the most shallow of knives, and their customer service sucks.

Heard of a store named after a large south american river? Maybe there?

I'll join in the fun. I just picked up a Camillus era 3 from the Exchange section of the Aussie version of this forum so should have it next week and really interested to see how it performs, so any tests you can suggest I will try to emulate here.
