Finally found a knife store

Theres a store about 40 minutes away thats about msrp but he does sales and marks stuff down at a decent price. There is a booth at a fleamarket and he will charge 30% under msrp on knives from the catalog. Then theres a Case master dealer near me, prices look about right for most Case knives I see anywhere

My "local" store is about an hour away. They have an excellent selection and, surprisingly enough, their prices are not much higher than I would pay on-line - probably only about 10-15%. I try to give them as much of my business as possible. It helps that all of the folks who work there are knife enthusiasts and we have some great conversations.

There is another store that is about an hour and a half away. They are also knife enthusiasts and are great folks to deal with, but the last time I checked their website they were charging full retail price on everything. It's a long drive to pay inflated prices so, even though they are good folks, I don't deal with them anymore.

I live literally 5 minutes from a fully stocked knife store. Benchmades, Spydercos, ZT, Kershaw, CRKT, SOG, CASE, Emerson, Al MAR, Randall, Many customs and thousands of slippies. It's hard for me to go there when a Delica is $100..

I'm about 10 minutes from my local shop which is primarily an outdoors shop but has any brand of knife you want, including the occasional Hinderer. What's odd is they charge way over the standard CRK prices except on the small Sebenzas, sticker price is 10 bucks less than usual. I haggled last time on a small Sebenza out the door for about $5 less than it would've cost online, but I got to hand pick it although their stock was 2012 knives and I purchased it this year. The last Hinderer they had, it was in the store so long, the last time I saw it the sticker was $579, down from I think $700 first time I saw it back in May.

Some prices that have stuck out to me in the recent past to give you an idea.
Delica - $80
Sage 1 - $149
Sage 2 - $199
TI Military - $299 I think
BM 940 before MAP enforcement - $170

Prices aren't bad on ESSEs if I recall. I like to support the store but won't buy a knife unless I can haggle a little bit. But their bread and butter is guns, ammo, bows, fishing stuff, and gun safes which I've bought all the above from them in support. The knife counter is rarely crawling with folks like the other areas. Lucky for me though which allows me to strike up a good conversation with the guy at the counter.

Sean at Edgeworks in Frederick MD is a great dealer. It is always a treat whenever I stop there. I try to get out there at least three times a year. On my way back home after the Mason Dixon knife show, in July after a powwow and the day after Thanksgiving. Great group of people.

Brian and the folks at Country Knives are good people but his prices are way too high. I have discussed it with him, no expectations for him to change, I usually buy something when I go in, but the last time I actually walked out without a new knife. They have a lot of discontinued product. If you go, don't forget to take a minute at the Edged Weapons museum.

Another place to check out is the shop Willey Knives, in Delaware. They have a great selection, good prices, and a very knowledgeable staff. They also have a Case weekend and a Buck weekend. They have a small farm in the basement of an outbuilding, with Mr. Willeys shop in the back on one side, and the office on the other. Mr. Willeys daughter Geri runs the store, and his son works there. Definitely a family affair. Always make a point to go there when I'm downy ocean.

So, I'm about an hour or so from Country Knives, about two hours from Edgeworks and about two hours or so, maybe three hours, from Willey Knives. I'm planning on taking a trip to Skyline Drive/Luray caverns and New Graham next summer.
