Finally Getting To Use The A-1 for Food Prep !!

Somebody give me reason!!

flat ground 1095 vs convex VG-10 laminate?

i'd be more inclined towards an A2 seeing as i've already got an S1. but i have a hatchet for A2 sized chopper tasks..... i also rekon the BK2 is a fine blade and will serve you well.

but i see your point on the $$$ side. when friends who know what i paid for the S1/WM1-3G ask me if they're worth the buck$, i tell them to ask me again in 20 years.

Ive already got an F1, so i know what Fallkniven is about. But the A1 is only an inch bigger than the BK2, and its not like that inch would provide me with a HUGE increase in batoning capabilty over the BK2.

The stainless steel is a major point for me, as i dont have an outdoors blade that size in SS. Id like a blade i can use during winter snow and rain, without the need to wipe it dry before i sheath it. Even more so, when i live in wet and rainy Scandinavia. I also like the covered full tang, so my hands dont get cold if used without gloves.

But then again, i might as well invest in a Gransfors axe and pair that with my F1, for winter trips. Thatll give me some serious firewood processing ability, instead of a A1.

Choices, choices....

IMO, there's nothing wrong with that choice :thumbup:

Glad to see ya got that coating off.

These Fallknivens really get ya hooked don't they. I just keep liking my F1 more and more.

I'm seriously considering am S1 as an upgrade.

I'm glad I got it off there too

I like the S1 a lot, but I'll likely get an F1 next.

I'm getting tempted by these too...hows the handle mateial feel for light chopping? Absorb shock like res c or is is it a harder material?

The handle feel great for chopping, absorbs shock but doesn't lose a lot of the force. I really like the handle all around.

I want an A1 REALLY bad, always have...problem is i already have a BK2, and at the price i cant really justify getting an A1, cause i dont think it'll offer that much more, in terms of performance/value, over the BK2.

Somebody give me reason!!

The A1 has a wicked convex sabre grind that slices like a dream and it won't rust in long term storage or if put up wet.

It looks really nice with the bead blasted finish

Thanks, I think so too

I agree, and I might do the same were I further north...but here this A1 works well for me. I very seldom need to do a lot of heavy chopping and I guess I'm getting old because I never do it just for fun anymore....

.

@Mistwalker, you wouldnt happen to have a pic of a BK2 and the A1 together?

Sadly no...don't own one yet. Looked at the new ones at Blade, and really like them a lot now with the new tang extension....but haven't managed to buy one yet. The BK2 looks like it would be a great field knife, but I'd personally rather have the A1 if I had to choose just based on using the A1 and handling the BK2. I like the weight-forward design of the A1 for chopping, not sure how the BK2 handles yet. Plus, I'd rather have the A1 in a fight

I think ill have to control my urge to get an A1, and go with the Gransfors Small Forest Axe instead. Ive got enough 4 inch blades, but no axe to pair them with.

Be sure to post a pic of the 2, if you do decide to get the Becker. Thanks Mistwalker

No problem man,

I'll be sure to post when/if I get it.

i think this is a good plan.

a small axe is a beter chopper than a big knife imho.

usually a lot cheaper too.

I can get 2 SFA's for the price of 1 A1. Thats quite a price difference.

I can not debate the usefulness...that brings personal prefs and uses into play...but in the google search I just did the A1 only cost $40.00 more than the SFA at the one place I personally know I can trust to order the SFA from. And though I would not really want to I could carry the A1 on my person across town if I needed to, without drawing any attention :) .
