Been wanting one of those for a long time, I'm not disappointed. Grabbed it off Facebook for $25 and it's practically brand new@ The tip was a little dulled (dunno if that was from the factory but I don't think so I remember Kershaw doing pretty good on the Needs Work), still deciding if I wanna bother fining it up or just use it and take care of that on the first honest resharpening. It's plenty sharp to poke through stuff anyway

Yeah they're great. I just gifted one to a coworker. He loved it. Good times.

I carried a Leek as my EDC for years and years and years.
It was a special edition version with gold plated accents. Whatever gloss black coating was on the handle and blade, it never got scratched.
I ended up handing it down to my friend who EDC'd a Chive but wanted something larger and now I have the Microtech UTX-70 on my keychain.
The Leek will not disappoint. Just make sure you don't sharpen it too aggressively or you may shorten the length of the blade.

Also, I recommend that you remove the safety latch at the base of the handle. Sometimes if it gets loose it will move to the "safe" side while the blade is open. When you close the blade, the edge will hit the latch and cause the blade to chip. From my experience, the safety latch was never needed and can be unscrewed and removed.

Enjoy the knife. It is worth way more than $25.

Thanks for the advice on the safety. I had heard about this happening and was already thinking about removing it.

Instead of removing the safety, you can just push it down to the "off" position and tighten the screw So that it stays there.

My Damascus Leek is one of my favorites to carry. I did what Neil suggested with my safety. I assumed if I removed it completely that I would lose the little parts so i just cinched it down good in the "off" position.

hmmm, a nice composite blade leek is also very high on my wishlist... however over here they sell for around 100€ new and there is almost no used market for them :(
congrats on the knife however, i am sure it is a really nice edc.

Great lightweight knife. Not enough "meat" (in the handle) for my liking, but I got my girl an orange svandik (with a matching orange Buck Metro key chain) and she loves it... Congrats.

I'm thinking I need to change the clip to tip-up carry, as I keep trying to put it into my shirt pocket upside down lol

I knew it was gonna bug me so I just went ahead and fixed the tip.

One issue I do have with the Leek is the clip, when it is in a tip-up configuration. I like to carry flipper knives tip-up and the Leek sticks way up out of your pocket when you put the clip on that side. Nothing major but a deep carry clip for this would probably be a big improvement.

A word of caution on the safety...about a year ago there was a thread in which someone was talking about assisted openers opening accidentally in one's pocket. A man related an incident in which he was carrying his Leek in his front pocket in a tip up configuration with the safety off. Somehow the assisted mechanism was activated and the knife opened in his pocket without him immediately noticing.

The way he noticed was when he leaned forward and felt the point of the blade begin to slice into his scrotum...

*assume tightly legs crossed position now*

Obviously, a bit of an extreme example, but something to think about...

I have an older Leek where the 'safety' is made of plastic. It's tight enough that I haven't had to worry about it. I say tighten it down, rather than remove it, and you should have no problems.

FYI, I picked up an S30V/G10 version first, and have since lent it to my brother who has been EDC'ing it for about 5 years now.

I now carry a Titanium/ZDP version that is the bees' knees!

Definitely a knife that will be considered a classic, like the Buck 110. Everyone should have one! And with so man options available, if you don't have one yet, you need a good talking-to.

Deep pocket clips are available for the Leek on the big auction site. For those that want a little larger handle with more bite, try to find one of the G10 handled Leeks.

Tons of different colors / types to choose from.........

Very nice pick up. I enjoy carrying my Leek on a regular basis. I think of it as my "gentleman's folder", or at least the closest thing I have to one. :)

I've given a few away as gifts to some people to get them into nicer knives yet I still don't own one myself. I really have to change that at some point they are awesome knives.

Wow I had no idea there were so many variants!

I knew about the composite ones, almost bought one at some point.

I generally don't care for black/coated blades but I like the DLC coating on this. I've been EDC'ing it a few days, it's kind of like... Superfulous though when I already carry two Izulas and a SAK but it's definitely a nice knife. It actually reminds me a lot of a Benchmade Kulgera I use to have, except that I don't feel like I need to baby it.

This was uncalled for. Its his sort of picture that leads to serious dents in my finances......
Extremely cool collection though.

Right? Thats how i feel about the show me your blur thread. Then i head over to KC and start mentally arguing with myself if im going to buy one.

But back to the idea behind the thread. Nice score, i own three regular leeks (1660) and love them, there great to carry.
