Finally got a Leek!

Guys, do we really need to quote the entire long set of pictures so we have to scroll through the whole set 3 times? Not that theyre not great pictures, but if I wanted to look at them that much I could just look at the original post. You can always edit out the pics in a quote! Just Saying :)

Ive had a few leeks, theyre great. Damn things used to be like $90 if I recall. At least that was the price at Kmart yearsss ago. Ive always taken out the safety on my leeks. Never had one open up on me.

I carried a Leek as my EDC for years and years and years.
It was a special edition version with gold plated accents. Whatever gloss black coating was on the handle and blade, it never got scratched.
I ended up handing it down to my friend who EDC'd a Chive but wanted something larger and now I have the Microtech UTX-70 on my keychain.
The Leek will not disappoint. Just make sure you don't sharpen it too aggressively or you may shorten the length of the blade.

Also, I recommend that you remove the safety latch at the base of the handle. Sometimes if it gets loose it will move to the "safe" side while the blade is open. When you close the blade, the edge will hit the latch and cause the blade to chip. From my experience, the safety latch was never needed and can be unscrewed and removed.

Enjoy the knife. It is worth way more than $25.

I would re-think this. If you remove the safety it may (probably) come open in your pocket at some point. It is better to make certain the screw is tight enough so that it will not slide easily.

Then you are suggesting to put the safety on everytime it is in your pocket? If you tighten the saftey down so it doesnt slide and don't put it on before putting the blade in a pocket, it has the exact same chance to open accidentally as it would if you removed the safety all together...

sorry guys.... too many pics! I have never carried a Leek, so I don't know if one could open in your pocket without the safety, but many people tighten them up or remove them completely.....

I don't get the point of the safeties. Doesn't it negate the point of the assisted opening?

IMO, the safety is only valuable when you carry 'tip up'. As I carry my Leeks tip down, I have never felt the need for a safety.

+1 on unclled for... Seeing them all laid out like that makes me seriously want to start collecting em. Like hot wheels but for grownups.

Love my FrankenLeeks!
