Finally got a Para 2 but....

David Lowry - screw you. My shitty torx driver must be the reason the shitty screws stripped.

I've never used WiHa drivers and I've never stripped any screws either. Probably just lucky like jbmonkey.

I always take a little longer to make sure I have the right sized Torx bit for the screw, working my way up through the sizes until I find the first one that's too big. The other thing I find helpful is to use my Wiha insert bits in a stubby fat-handled bit holder. It's much easier to apply the torque necessary to break a screw free with a good grip on the driver. For lighter work I'll use the thin-handled precision drivers.

Some cheaper ones are good and fit very well, but both steel quality in the bit and sizing is often a bit hit and miss. An off sized bit will often damage screw heads, but you would often feel it if the sizing is off before you damage anything so that can be avoided with care. User error is probably also a major factor in many of the cases as well.

ALWAYS use high quality drivers. I paid no more than $12 for T6 and T8 Wiha drivers probably 3-4 years ago. They're still going strong. Absolutely worth the cost.

Welp, OP appears to be a troll. I think we can move along now.

Agreed. Can't get a picture of the problem. Doesn't want advice. Just here to blame the product. Defensive from the get go. Ignores user error.

This may be sacrilegious in a Spyderco forum, but I use the bits out of my Benchmade blue box kit and they fit perfectly. Always check your driver by rotating it when it is inside the screw and make sure there isn't any excessive play with your driver before you really torque down on it!

Mine too. They are of quality and work fine for all my knives.

Yeah OK -troll, user error, doesn't want advice. God forbid there's a defective product.

Thanks to those offering advice. I did order some Wiha drivers from Amazon. I'll be using them when my replacement screws arrive from Spyderco. Have a great weekend everybody!

Dude told me to screw off, but I don't think he's a troll. Dude's been around on the forum as long as I have.

He just doesn't like my opinion and that's OK. That's what we all love being here to do....type our opinion on stuff. ;)

fair enough. appreciate the follow up.

Sure. Thanks to you as well.

I'll just say he's a frustrated guy exhibiting troll-like symptoms. :D

OP, I've stripped screws before. I stripped the pocket-clip screws on my Domino and I had to get replacements. It was 100% my fault for using a junk torx driver and not paying attention. With Spyderco's new policy of using red loctite, the risk of error is undoubtedly higher.

Glad to see you're picking up some better tools and hopefully some better tips for the future.
